Help me,
During my weekly visit to my local gun dealer I thought I had escaped without touching my wallet. As I was walking out the door I spotted an S&W Mdl.27-2, 6.5in, serial number N4947XX , no problem I thought it will be more than what I want to spend. Much to my dismay It was only priced $400.00. So then I thought it's shot out, that did not work either, fairly tight lock up, no cut line, well defined clean bright bore.At this point I was getting desperate, well how about the finish-pretty good, in 90% to 95% range a few minor dings, screws look good the side plate had been off and a tiny burr was at the top of the plate but very fixable. I was getting very nervous and knew I was in deep, deep trouble. So I played my last card, I told them I would buy the gun at $400.00 but in my opinion the 27-2 was considerable under priced at $400.00 and I did not want to take advantage of a incorrectly priced gun and get someone in trouble. They replied that the owner had personally priced that one but if I felt badly I could pay more.

Well I did not feel that badly, I will pick it up next week. In my turmoil I neglected to notice if it had the 3 -T' or if it was pinned and recessed. I assume it was, but guess I will find out when I pick it up.

Is there a 12 step group for S&W buyers, Were can I get help? This is my 4th N frame purchase, 6th S&W , mostly purchased in the last year. That by itself is not to bad but I have also purchased another 20 pistols and rifles within that period. I am not even sure what I have at this point.

Yes there is a 12 step program. It starts "after" you've purchased your first 12 S&W's..........maybe.

You've come to the wrong place if you want to quit!

un-stopable

My thinking was is you want to learn to shoot go to the range or join the military,
If you want to learn about guns buy the book first and associate your self with gun forms and talk with gun people.
And if you want to bitch, brag or learn about the S&W pistols go to the S&W forum.

The only thing that going to stop me at this point from collecting guns is death, money or the Government, at best all three combined could probably slow me down a little but they sure ain't going to stop me.

Nice steal/deal! There is a cure. There are two legged creatures of the female persuasion who can make your life a nightmare with too many S&W buys. Wife put me on 1 year of probation when I was on an out of control spree. That was 1 long year!

Pics of my 2.5" 66-2 coming soon and congrats on the 27!

You did good, don't fight it, your heirs will appreciate it.:D
If it was a 27-2 it should be pinned and recessed, just like God intended 'em to be.

Ha-ha-ha-ha, stop you? Heck I cant even stop myself! I think ya done good with that one. I picked up a 28-2 six inch last month at $349.00 for the very same reason as you. By the way, I took the twelve step program and went right off the end of the plank!

Nice score, wish I only paid 400 for mine.

I have the same disease.
I caught it when I bought a 28-2 last week.
I think my fever is getting worse...

Aah, why fight it as there is no cure as long as your on this earth. Ask your self if you are having fun and enjoying your new addiction. Whats the problem? Why of course you need a matching one in Nickel!! Laugh all the way to the bank as you withdraw cash for each purchase. Kyle

12 steps

This is my first post too, I've owned a 27-2, 5" for close to twenty years. Then I got me a 6" then a 4" 29-2 then a 6" and an 8 3/8" also in 44mag......If I could I'd offer them to you but the 49th parallel is in the way. I've been on a buying spree waiting for the deals to stop coming too but in a recesion it's tough to tun a great piece down. Remember two things: you may not see another one as nice for a long long time, so grab it. Most importantly you have to have enough for the auction when it's time to go~.
Enjoy.

Ha,ha, ha, ha .....12 step program??? Where do you think you are????? You say you're looking for a "cure" and you're in the opium den of the S&W world just like the rest of us pitiful addicts....

Ain't no cure here, my friend. Just a bunch of ragged old blurry eyed gun junkies looking for their next fix....

Uh.... Ya wouldn't happen to have another one of those 27's layin' around you aren't needin' would ya?? I redeemed some beer and coke cans and I think I might have enough for a down payment if I don't eat today...... :D

12 Step Program

There is a very successful 12 step program to bring your disease under control. Begin by acquiring 12 N-frames, 12 K-frames and so forth. Once you have succeeded in gathering 12 of each frame size. Begin by accumulating 12 with 8 3/8 inch barrels, 12 of 6 inch etc. By the time you begin working on 12 each of blue, nickel and stainless you will only have to deal with urges to have 12 of 22 RF, 12 of 22RF mag and about the time you reach 12 38 Specials you will be to busy dealing with credit card bills, IRS and your soon to be X-wife's lawyer. Your urges will be reduced to nail biting and cold sweats but you will suddenly discover you can sleep nights without waking up at 3:00 AM with nightmares trying to figure a way to have 12 each of all the T's.

Your first order of business should be getting those urges to tell the shopkeeper his guns are under priced and that you need to pay more, under control.

Standard operating procedure for a true gun addict is to try and buy said wares for a reduced price, not vice versa. Hang in there though, you'll learn.

+1 On what he said because the 6.5 inch 27-2 is a very hard revolver to find and I would have thrown my shoulder out of it's socket getting my wallet out and paying for it before someone figured out that at that price you were stealing it.
