Hello all, got a chance to purchase an unfired, no-lock 342 with the Crimson Trace laser grips. It is in original box with all documents, just the trigger lock is missing or, at least, it is not in the picture. Asking $675.00 firm. Fair price or not? I think it is but, not sure.

Thanks, HEMI

If I was in the market for one and had the money, I'd buy it. Figure $175+ for the grips and you're at $500 or less for a NIB 342ti, not bad. Besides, they're not making 11oz .38's any more and probably won't.

I sold my like new 342Ti with factory grips for $650 last week..
The laser Grips cost $175-$225..
That's a good price..
Jump on it quickly, It'll vanish fast..
The MSRP of the newer Airlites is sky high, Look at the S&W website @ a 340PD to get an idea of there current value..

OK, I am going to pick it up tomorrow afternoon. A pre-lock, NIB model is just too hard to pass up! I wonder if it would be alright to shoot and carry standard pressure 125gr. nyclad bullets thru it? That is what I carry now in my 442 and like them a lot. I think S&W recommends jacketed bullets for the titanium cylinder models.

Nyclads are jacketed........ Just not with brass.

Yes, they are jacketed and I figure they should be alright. I think the reason S&W recommends jacketed bullets for this particular pistol is its' extreme light weight and the possibility of bullet/case separation with lead bullets under recoil. I guess the jacketed bullets hold better in the case under recoil.

By the way, I picked it up this afternoon! The fellow selling it had advertised the sale on a local gun board and he said he was swamped with buyers within a day but, I was first and had the cash for him today! Awesome gun!

Even my wife loved it due to its' weight and the laser grips! Betting she will not like the recoil, even with standard pressure loads as she is a bit of a wussie to put it mildly! Her bedstand gun is an old Model 10 with standard pressure .38 specials and she does not like to shoot it!

Well Done

I'd like to say that if I found any no lock S&W that hadn't been fired I might put it on a shelf. But I don't collect guns, I collect shooters. Enjoy it!

You'll not regret the purchase, IMHO?
Your Wife will NEVER love the way the 10 ounce acts in practice at the range. (Run Lead 148 grain full wad cutter target ammo for practice)
She will however kiss the ground the end purchaser walks upon, should she ever be unfortunate enough to end up at the pointy end of the stick and need to use it! Because a "favorite" gun that's at home when called upon, is as useful as a bicycle is for a fish.
(As above, have her practice with 148 target full wad cutters. Then fill it with whatever you feel is best and shut your mouth!)
That private warm and fuzzy feeling you'll have after a month or two of seeing her actually carrying the thing is what your after. You may never be able to share that feeling with her, but setting up a situation where she's more likely than not too have it with her is what your after anyway.
JOMO?

Thanks guys, I love it too and my wife really likes it also. The laser is what she is enamoured with as much as the weight of the gun. I have an extra 442 lying around that I think I will get a CTC laser grip for and give it to her to carry! That way she will leave my 342 alone! Maybe.

I got a question, is the trigger blue steel? I have an 642 Airweight and it is blue steel.

Sweetheart of a find, been looking for one myself, I think you paid a fair price too, enjoy it
