I picked up a 38 Perfected Model a few years ago at a gun shop/police supply store, it was taken in as a police trade. The serial number is 44109. It has seen much use...rode hard and put away wet, but the bore is perfect and it still locks up tight and functions well. Someone in its past shellacked the grip area and I've yet to try and get the grips off. On the sideplate, just above the S&W emblem, it is stamped KA. I don't know if that is a company or pervious owner's initials? I'm guessing it is circa 1915-16? Anybody care to chime in...???
