I would like to learn more about the S&W 5 screw, blue finish, 6.5", 455 I own. The s/n 632xx is on one side of the lanyard and a clover design with the number 30 is on the other side of the lanyard. Behind the cylinder release are several figures including what look like the numbers 5&6 over an E. It is not stamped, "made in the USA". Any info would be appreciated.

I suspect this was one of those made for the British or Canadians during WWI. Pictures would really help. It's possible the clover with the 30 is a regimental mark.

It could be one of a few models. Is there a shroud around the ejector rod under the barrel? Or is it unshrouded?

Look on the left side of the frame above the grip. So you see a vertical series of stampings there? Also, where the barrel screws in (again on the left side), is there a little stamp that looks like crossed flags?

The "clover design" is a crown. On these, when in doubt, assume it is a crown! ( :D ) Probably an inspector's mark.

It was manufactured circa 1916.

The barrell is not shrouded, there are markings above the left grip and crossed flags on the left side.

That would make it a second model HE. The first model had an extractor rod shroud on the barrel. They are actually crossed pennants, a British military proof marking. There is usually a debate, and some believe that the crossed pennants are either acceptance or ownership stampings. However, the preponderance of opinion falls on the proof mark side of the fence. These crossed pennants are seen on many British military small arms.

Nice gun especially if hasn't been re-chambered to another cartridge.

The serial # gives it away as a ".455 Mk II Hand Ejector 2nd Model" made late in production which ended ~ 1916.
