I am having an issue with my S&W 459 - I did a detailed disassemble to clean it after I purchased it. It was a filthy little pistol. No issues in the disassemble, but reassemble is kicking my ***. I am having an issue pushing the hammer pivot pin through the firing pin block lever and the sear trip lever. I can get the hammer pivot through the firing pin block lever, but I am having absolutely no luck in getting the pin through both, let alone through the hammer and ejector.

Any ideas or tips?

Thanks

Bill

One way to help line up the levers and the hammer is to use a slightly smaller "slave" pin first, which will be easier to insert. Tapering the ends of the slave pin will also help. Then, with the slave pin in place, push through the sideplate/hammer pin. You may have to manipulate the levers slightly, using your thumb on top of them as you push the hammer pin through the assembly.
The sideplate w/pin will push out the slave pin as it passes through.

Another procedure is to use a pin punch from the opposite side of the frame to help align the parts as you gently push on the sideplate/pin through. (Helps to have an assistant or padded bench vise)
