S&W 640 Pro Series - The Ultimate Snubnose

Read this thread and went right to my LGS to have them try to find me one. One question though, only moon clip revolver I ever owned was a Taurus in .45 auto. Worked fine but I traded it on something or other later. Can you load and shoot the 640 pro without using the moon clips? Understand the value of carrying a speedy reload, but at the range I'd rather not mess with them. Want this piece in either case though.

I have a 640 Pro and I can confirm the love for it. It's a great gun. As MBliss said, it can be shot with or without the MC's. Just my opinion, it's a good gun stock, change the rebound spring and polish the parts, it's a very good gun. Add an XS Big Dot and it's one of the best J frames ever made IMO.

Mnspring: I sent you a PM re: Banana grips. I have a set you can have.

New to the forum, I purchased my first S&W revolver today and it is the 640 pro series. Taking it to the range tomorrow. This little snubbie will probably be the first in a long line of must have S&W revolvers for me.

Got a 640 pro on Friday, my first smith revolver. I am definitely hooked. Still looking for a 686 4".

Does any of your barrels have uneven rifling? I ask because mine does, and am debating on sending it back.

Finally found one

After months of searching, waiting, even begging at a few select shops, I hit the jack pot today.

Walked into one of the usual places about two hours after their morning delivery. The timing was coincidence and I cannot claim a well executed plan.

Could not believe what I saw in their case. No highlights, no signs, no attention getters. Just sitting there in and among their other SW revolvers.

Even more interestingly, it was priced below MSRP and close to their usual margin. Was told it was the first and only 640 Pro Series in several months.

Nothing says Father's Day like a shining new gun, unless of course you ask my wife.

Happy Father's Day, Wish I could find one for Father's Day

I have been on the same hunt for a 640 Pro Series, most gun shops in this area have never heard of it. I will continue the hunt and maybe I will be lucky. It seems like dealers are starting to get more inventory, maybe this is a good sign.

Enjoy your Father's Day Smith, and shoot a few rounds for me.

Although a few years old, I thought it'd be better to resurrect this thread than start a new one.

A few weeks ago a picture of a member's 640-1 Pro caught my eye and I had to update my bucket list.

Today I found this example at the Reno Cabelas - serial #CZH3050. It's hard to read, but I believe the date on the night site is '16. Not that it really matters, but there's not much of a turn line, no flame cutting or carbon line on the top strap above the gap and the blast shield is unremarkable. I would appreciate an approximate ship date.

Scratch one more off my list...

Thanks
