I have noticed that my M-642 tends to point north, but I don't know if that reflects a Confederate bias on the gun's part, or if the barrel got magnetized and now thinks it is a compass needle.

rebal

i have one got it tuesday..called back and had them layaway the otherone the had i love the flag on it!!

Heaven help the guy that uses one of those for self defense and the attacker is not white.

That's exactly what I thought the first time I saw one!

Use it in a legitimate self defense situation and end up getting charged with a "hate crime".

+1 (discretely worded question and answer.) In some places, even in the deep south, some people think the display of a rebel flag = a racial slur

The racial angle was the first thing I thought of when I seen one for the first time at last months gunshow. But I still plan on picking one up if they still have one at this weekends gunshow.
I hate political correctness.

I was in my LGS last month and they had one. The salesman told a girl who was interested in it, "Do not buy this for a SD weapon. If you shoot someone, they will profile you". I thought it was good sound advice in today's messed up PC world.

I agree that that sounds like sound advice!
And why would you buy an alloy snubnosed J frame besides self defense?

Shot my 642 Rebel on Sunday.
Shoots great just as good as the one I got my wife for Christmas three years ago ( she wanted a coffee maker ) . My wife's 642 is just a plain Airweight with rubber grips so they feel different in my hand but they both feel good.
The comfort of concealment and accuracy was the big seller for me.
I love it.
