I have always Loved S&W handguns. I have not had one in several years due to the money they cost (Budget Problems), so I always bought Ruger (P90's & Mark III) I sold my p90 a few years back to help me buy a S&W Model 41 (WOW what a great target pistol) will never get rid of it. I now wanted a 45 for home defense, and to keep with me while driving. I was going to buy another Ruger P90. But after searching much, I came across the S&W 645. I really like the 1911 model but I do not like a single action gun,in fact I hate them (had one, do not like to carry cocked and locked)so a 1911 was out of the question, but the 645 is the perfect gun in my eye's 1911 style with the double action. So I purchased one on GunBroker and yes it cost me too much but I got the one I wanted. My question is, a gun that old (1985-1988) should it be tuned? I did tune my model 41(1960 model)with all new springs, ejector and extractor. I was looking at Wolf springs for the 645, but do not see a 645 listed on their web page, will the 4506 have the same recoil and firing pin, extractor springs? I will have no idea how many rounds have been through this gun.
Any advice or info will be much appreciated, everything I have read about the gun is positive, I have read no negatives what so ever (except weight, no problem, not to be a hip gun anyway).
Thanks in advance
Jeff
