And the little gem is a 'transition'. That is it is stamped 66-1, has recessed chambers, BUT the barrel is not pinned in.

Yea at a pawn shop.

Fly in the ointment... They want... $1000 smackers!!! Now I know we have this 'inflation' but that is carrying it to far! I got my 657, 4 inch .41 magnum for $700 with no tax. They want one grand AND 8.5% tax!

Oh well, I promised my wife I would not pole dance at the old folks home for gun money anymore...

There's a 66-2 2.5" at a local shop near me, I believe the price is $800 or $850 which I consider to be a good price. I just don't have the scratch right now for it.

Sounds pricey, but good to know prices are up on the early 66.
I paid 300 in 95 for a six inch. I wonder what that translates In today's money?

Me neither... but... I have to admit.. I have a 66-1 JUST LIKE the one I saw at the pawn shop... and really, do I need two of them?

Oh, BTW folks, this one I saw was MINT... perfect lockup, tight, no scratches, nice wood S&W stocks.

Would love to get it but... not at that kind of price!!! I've already overspent my allowance by a good bit. Covered my birthday, Christmas... and now what? My next birthday a year away??

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that's done that.

Fortunately I have a sweet wife that loves to shoot and tolerates my extravagance. Of course it never hurts to indulge her desires too.

Never a question of "need".
