S&W 6904 Ejection problems

No, no problems fastbolt. Well i did drop the spring but that is it..lol. I have been a mechanic or mechanical type work all my life. This gun is very simple. Have had it all apart except for the slide just to check it out before ordering parts. Can't help it. Just made that way. When i bought the 6904 it had less than 100 rounds fired through it which was one reason i was surprised i had a problem with it. The springs you talked about the green and the black which i was sent one of each, there was a black one in it to start with. Supposedly was all original. The rails were the slide moves on still had most all of the black finish on them. Hardly any marks. After 500 rounds or so it developed it's ware pattern on them so i measusered them with my callipers and it now stays the same. I keep it well oiled. Would you think that maybe this black spring that was in it may be a revised version? I don't know. I put the black one in before the range yesterday and it seemed to work fine. May take the green one back to the range next time and try it and see how it does as well. It is a good be softer than the black one.

My use of the word "hideous" is merely referring to the shade of green paint used for the 3913 (and variants and 69XX guns (same paint color as the CS45 recoil spring).

How about a "bilious" shade of green? :p

Your replacement regimen would seem prudent, since the factory recommendation runs to replacement either every 5 years or every 5,000 rounds fired, whichever occurs first.

I'm a bit more conservative in my own replacement of recoil springs, doing so sooner than the normal recommendation, but that's because I've been using issued +P+ or +P loads for the last several years.
Sorry, thought you were being critical of the spring not the color
