S&W CS45...Tell me everything.

I love mine :)

It's my #2 EDC, and only that because I carry two guns,
both of them are the same size, more or less,
and since they share mags, it was a no-brainer!!

(Star M45 & 2nd & 3rd Gen .45acp S&W mags interchange,
you just have to add the appropriate mag-catch holes)

Guervera Im confused. Are you talking about CS45 recoil spring or 4513TSW?

I ask because the CS45 doesnt use the dual spring set up. It uses a single flat wire spring.

I just finally aquired a CS45 last month. Midway has the CS45 springs in stock. Mine arrived yesterday. Im still in the processof wringing out the CS45, but it has gone over 200 rounds with no issues and Ive been carrying it regularly for a few weeks now.

Mine is set up like the one in Nimble,Jack Bs picture. I put a 4513TSW mag base on one of my mags. Makes the little 45 a bit more comfortable to shoot.

While my original 6-round 4513TSW is still my favorite 45, the CS45 is a bit smaller and lighter. It fits my retired carry needs to a T. Very nice little 45. Regards 18DAI

I have carried a CS 45 I bought new, for over 25 years. I have qualified with it many times. I carry 165 gr. Hydra Shok rounds in it, and carry several loaded magazines. I think it's the greatest carry pistol there is, but I am prejudiced.

This thread is so chock full of information I am going to resurrect it myself.

Query - when was the CS-45 first produced?

I ordered my stainless CS45 the first year they were released in stainless, which I believe was '99.

A close friend got the CS9 & CS45 when they were first released, with carbon steel slides and black sideplates, and I think that may have been late '98 or early '99.

I remember they were still reportedly making short runs of the CS9/45's after they had been dropped from the commercial catalog, as they were popular among LE for off-duty. They sold by word-of-mouth, with hardly any advertising needed by that point.

Had one back in the day bought it brand new! Needed another 45 in the stable! ;) I liked it but after having it for awhile it just didn't work for me?
So My son liked it so I gifted it to him! Now after awhile he no longer liked it so he traded it for a brand new Glock 33 .357 Sig. ;) Now I have a Glock 27 and really like that and I made mention of the fact I was going look into the 33 as well.
Low and behold don't the son gift that back to me! :D So the CS45 made it circle! ;)

It was in honor of another recent thread (on another forum) that I got out my CS45, checked cleanliness & re-lubricated it, loaded up half a dozen magazines and packed an extra box of Ranger T-Series in one of my bags, and took it along as one of my LEOSA weapons for our last drive to the PNW.

While I really like my slightly smaller CS9, I've owned the CS45 for a while longer and have put a LOT of rounds downrange with it over the years.

I've had it long enough that the (original) Ashley Express Big Dot front night sight has gone dark some time ago (the older rear sight didn't come with a night sight capsule for the CS45, but just a white stripe).

I'm too lazy to pull the front sight and send it out for relamping. I've thought about just putting some regular 3-dot sights on it, or maybe an older MMC S&W 3rd gen adjustable rear sight I have, with the standard front dot. The little gun shoots very accurately, regardless of what sights have been on it over the years.

I've got an older Blade-Tech OWB scabbard, which I ordered cut down a little more in the front than they said was normal. They made a point of telling me it wouldn't be IDPA legal, but I told them I only drew against bad guys, anyway, not for sport. Different "rules" and latitude would be involved.

This is the only leather holster I have the CS45, ordered back when the H726 was standard production at Hume, and when they made them a little differently, meaning belt tunnel loops instead of belt slots, and cloth covers inside the thumb snap instead of plastic inserts (which I replace with the same adhesive cloth patches they used to use, as the hard plastic could sometimes snag/hang up on the side of the slide during the draw, even if only momentarily).

Dumb question gentlemen- does the delrin grip from a 4513 (no rail) 6 round fit a CS45?

To expand on what Fastbolt already said, the 'guts' of the longer 4513 grip and the grip pin hole don't line up with the shorter CS45 frame. A bit of precise modification needs to be done to turn them into CS45 grips. :)
