S&W CS9

I have a nice S&W CS9 I am going to sell. I have had it for several years and I don't know the value of these guns. I have looked on several gun sites and they don't have one listed. Can you guys give me a estimate of what it's worth? Thanks Don

I've been doing some research in preparation for selling my blue version. I'd say start at $475.00 and see what the offers are. It has the box and two magazines, plus it's stainless. If you have the documents, that's even better.

None seem to be available for sale right now but a CS40 runs $350 to $450. While the CS45 is going for around $500 to $600.

CS9 values

Having owned both the CS9 and CS45, I'd actually place them at a par, value-wise, or even place the CS9 at a higher price. I've stayed away from the CS40 because I think a heavier pistol handles that round better (personal opinion, I know there's plenty of lightweight 40s out there).
I currently own two CS9s, one stainless, the other black. The stainless has a Big Dog grip, and night sights - I'd value it at $550 if I were going to sell it.
The black one is basically NIB, and if I were going to put it up for sale, I'd place the price at $500. That's what I'd be willing to pay, myself. These are great little pistols, and the CS9, IMHO, is the best of the bunch...

The CS9 in that size gun is a better gun. I own a CS40 and it will make your wrist hurt after a few mags thru it. The 4006 is a much better handling gun for the .40S&W. In 9mm, the recoil is not as bad. The fact that all of the CS line fit in pockets is the main point. They make good concealed carry guns.

Theirs a reason you can't find one listed for sale. I've been looking for one for 2 years. Now cash poor, gun rich, one is coming up for sale. $600.00 minimum.

I have both the CS9 and CS40 and I agree the CS9 & CS45 are a little tougher to locate. Auction prices that I have seen are $450 to $500 on the 40 depending on number of mags and original box and paperwork and condition. The 45 is running a little higher depending on those conditions. I agree $500 or a little over is not out of line. Both of mine are close to mint with 4 mags for the CS9, and 3 mags for the CS40. Both with all paperwork and box. With the price of magazines that is an issue.

Probably depends on the going rate wherever you, or any interested buyers, are looking at the guns.

I remember when a close friend of mine bought a pair of blued (carbon slides) CS9 & CS45's. Plastic sights and single side manual safety. He bought them at a local gun store who was running a special on them for $369/ea, as I recall. I actually paid more at the armorer program price for my early production stainless (slide) CS45, around the same time, and even more for my later production stainless CS9 (with steel sights & ambi safety). Go figure.

Supply & demand comes into play in things like this, though, doesn't it?

I bought a CS9 from a fellow S&W forum member back in early spring. Black finish, 3 mags, box, papers, etc. I'd have to say 95%+ condition though it really looks brand new. Was either $475 or $525, can't recall. I'd been looking for one for close to 2 years, never found one at any gun shows (though did see a few in .40). The few I found on GB were either more than I was willing to pay (saw a couple actually go for $600!) or pretty beat up condition. $500-ish was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but it being in such great shape convinced me. When I received it and took it down, it looked like it was rarely shot. Best of luck!

I forgot to mention back around the end of June summitgunbroker.com had some stainless CS9s with 2 mags for, I think, $525 w/ $18 shipping. The fellow who owns the site went on vacation July 4th and they were all gone soon after. I don't know how many he had. I bought a 6906 at the time and they went quickly too.
