S&W CSX field strip question

I’m absolutely familiar with the 1911, I’ve got twelve of them, everything from Colt to Wilson to Nighthawk to Kimber to Staccato to Ruger. My first thought was I don’t have the slide on the CSX lined up right. So, I’ve been fooling with that slide for over an hour. Complicated by astigmatism. At the same time, it’s hard to believe that the pin is so tight that I can’t simply push it out with finger pressure ...like a 1911. But, nothing seems to be working.
Grrrr.

I have a degree of sympathy with you. Many disassembly instructions talk about pushing something out with your finger. Often I find that the the author must have callouses like a bricklayer, because there is no way my office worn fingers can get the required force applied without drawing blood.

The only other advice I can give is this; try holding your chin a little differently while attempting to pop out the pin.

Success! Finally got the slide stop pin out. I gave up on cleaning it before first range visit and was able to put 200 rounds thru it this morning. When Igot home I was able to pop it right out. Must have loosened up after workout.
Only had two hiccups which I think were Ammo related. Was shooting BB 115 FMJ for the most part but did run a couple mags of Federal HST 124 with no trouble.
This is a snappy little pistol and requires a lot of concentration to shoot well ( at least for me)
BTW - Fits perfectly in the OWB TT Gunleather holster I had made for my P365. Go figure.

Easy takedown

There's an easy solution to this if you're having trouble with your pin. I took one of those orange slide safety stops for keeping the slide open on display and cut it down to 0.726 and it locks in perfect position to pop the pin out everytime. Haven't seen any fixes for this so here you go. I can't post picture if anytime lets me know how I'll show what I have.

I use a cut-off bolt (dia = abt .152”) to hold the slide at the right point.

That works too. I like the plastic doesn't have any chance of scratching. Funny I've searched and found nobody offering this solution before.

well I am hoping....probably to no avail ...that the pin gets a little easier after many rounds of break in and repeated releasing the slide with the stop....I got mine (e series) yesterday and the pin is tight as a 44 inch waist wearing a 36 inch belt and it takes two people to get it out...one to hold the slide in the proper position and one to use a punch and hammer to get it out....

Not for nothing but, how often are you guys having to field strip your pistols “in the field”? I agree that it is a bit annoying to have to find something to help with disassembly, but all we are talking about here is something as simple as a rifle cartridge, pocket knife, or ink pen to get it started. I just don’t see it as an issue.

I just got one yesterday and you are not going to push this pin out with just any pointed object and your bare hand unless you are Sasquach, you have to use a punch and hammer to tap it free..so therefore it take another person to help you...as you can't hold the slide in place and the punch and use the hammer at the same time.......

Same issue with the new CSX -E. I found a consistent way to release the pin without scratching the coating with a metal punch.

I took a nylon spudger from my computer tool box and cut a few mm from the sharp end, leaving a 2 mm pusher tip. I wrapped it in sticky tape to make a grip.

I put my left thumb behind the beavertail, and pulled the slide slowly back with my fingers until I heard a soft "click". At that point, I put the spudger tip on the pin and applied steady moderate pressure. I slowly moved the slide back millimeter by millimeter until the pin pushed through. In one or two tries, it became very repeatable.
