S&W CUSTOMER SERVICE; Some hope after all :)

Since you now have a functioning unit to compare to, check the ejector hooks. On the one that functions correctly, it should be solid and immovable. Does the ejector on the bad unit wiggle?
My 15-22 had a loose ejector that I could wiggle around about 1/16" in all directions, in out, left right, etc. Needless to say it was a jam-o-matic. It took 3 trips back to the factory and on the third one a rather impolite letter enclosed in the box with explicit instructions to replace the ejector before they finally fixed it. It now runs like a sewing machine, but it was a struggle getting it there. I know that's not what you want to hear, and it is only a sample size of one, but someone was asleep in the S&W repair center when my rifle was sent back the first two times.
Good luck, you may need it.

The bad unit's extractor hook is solid and in place (like the functioning unit) but badly chewed up as it must have certainly been out of alignment right out of the box. I am pretty certain that will be the repair/replacement. However I cannot even get this rifle returned in a timely manner, as I continue to wait on the return paperwork. So far my experience with S&W repair is an "F". I realize there is some sort of safety recall going on, so I am being patient. Thank you for the insight. Regards, John

when you requested the shipping label, were they going to send it by post or by email? if by email, it may have been blocked by your spam filter. mine arrived the next day and i found it it in the folder that i have my spam mail go into.

At this point nothing from S&W to get this rifle returned. If anyone has any suggestions, please advise. They do not respond to e-mails and after waiting on the phone for 45 minutes, the answer I get is that the paperwork is in the mail? I get USPS mail from all over the country in 1 to 2 business days. So lemon gun sits. Cannot wait to see how long it sits at S&W; (if it ever gets there). This thing did not shoot properly right out of the box. Of course gun shop will not accept return. And credit card will not allow any recourse (refund) because it is a firearm. My return number is 1617016 issued 8/16, if anyone here has a string to pull! Will keep you posted. Warm Regards, John

Today is Monday the 26th. Any word on that return label, yet??

If not, like my dear old Pop used to say, "The squeeky wheel gets the grease".

I'd keep trying to contact them, politely.

Doubtful your problem got pushed aside by S&W and just coming back from vaca plus the safety issues with the Shield probably has them backed up.

I've never had to return any of my weapons back to the manufacturer and I'll bet it IS frustrating just waiting and waiting.

I did return an Optic back to Leapers (UTG) a while ago which they replaced w/a new unit, but the unit was B/O which made me wait 3 weeks for the new one to appear.

I fished around on the net for a while and aquired the e-mail address of one of their field reps so I rit him a nice letter, explained the problem and what I had gone thru and he took it upon himself to have the unit replaced for me. He wrote me several e-mails all thru the replacement process encouraging me not to lose hope and everthang would work out in the end, which it did. The unit was 3 years old, too. After that experience, I'll now do more bidnez with UTG.

Good luck my man and I've always heard that S&W takes good care of their customers.

The rep said he had to do this through the USPS snail mail. My last conversation with them was last week Thursday, and the same guy said they are backed up. Indicated I should have it any day now? Regards, John

Thanks, trying to remain optomistic! Regards, John

All three times they sent my return shipping label via email and I just printed it out. It usually took 24 hours each time to get the label.

^^^ Same here... After requesting service, I received my shipping label via email and printed it out. That was about two years ago, but it's hard to imagine that S&W Service would stop that delivery routine and require the label to be delivered to you via USPS snail mail (???).

Thank you for the info. If I do not see this paperwork within the next day or two, I'll call again and ask them why they cannot just e-mail me. That seems like a simple solution?

mine was in april...so

Don't forget S&W just had their 2 week Summer Shutdown less than a month ago as well. In theory they should have a 2 week backlog and if the Shield recall exasperated this issue, you just hit the perfect storm. Good luck with your 15-22.

Done; S&W non-responsive

Well, I am giving up. I have spoken to, and e-mailed S&W numerous times and I get different stories each time. One Rep says the RA is being mailed USPS. One Rep says it was already mailed USPS. One Rep says no, we e-mailed it to you. One Rep says we have your name wrong. Today the Rep said he will try and e-mail it to me again and I'll see it by Friday 8/30? This means I have been waiting for a return now for 3 weeks. I think this is just somewhat sad? I give up. Like my signatures says; "Do or do not, there is no try

Edited. We don't do sales in the discussion areas.

Obviously very frustrating. Hope it works out.

My buddy just had repair work done on his TC Pro Hunter, he put in a detailed letter and sent it directly to S&W, had it back in a week with a new barrel. Maybe you should consider this option.

These plastic guns have a hugh following because they are cheap and the guys just "want" them to work... and they do work for the most part but with so many different types of issues (which I suspect some are ammo related) that I would not trust one... There are better options for an AR style 22 by going with a dedicated 22 upper that will mate to a real AR lower.

There are three in my family, covering well over 20k ... no problems with any of them.

If you are so anti-15-22s, what are you doing on this forum. :)
