I have a pair of grips that I have been thinking of selling since I don't have any use for them but I need to identify what they are first.

At the bottom of the grips it says "pat june 5, 1917"

Thank you very much for your time.
Steve

Those look almost too good to be true. Very nice. My pre-war .38 Regulation Police has the brass medallions on the upper portion of the stocks.

They do indeed appear to be Regulation Police stocks. I'm gonna guess that they date from about the '20s due to the lack of monogram and convex shape of the space where a monogram would be and the serial number range. Other than the chip out of the back of the arch of the right panel, they do appear to be in exceptional condition. How much do you have in mind for them?

Froggie

That is a difficult question, I have no idea what they are worth and I was thinking selling them on ebay (That way there is no guessing what they are worth)
You can maybe PM me an offer?
Sorry if I am breaking forum rules here.

About the chip, I thought I looked them over many times and didn't see any chips. I will look again when I get home tonight.

Thank you,
Steve

Guess you take better pictures than you do inspections. Right up at the inside of the stock circle. Not a big problem and should be covered by the side plate when installed. Those are in exceptional condition and should bring a good price. The problem being that the I frame grips don't always have the greatest demand.

I must be blind

I just can't see the chip in the grips, so I must be blind :)
Unless the chip that is was referred to is in the last picture

Thank you,
Steve

That would explain the condition of the medallions, Hondo44. The SN of the gun is 9549, which is pretty early. Those are some nice looking grips, Militarytorch. Have you sold them yet? I have seen several people on this forum looking for some. I think the grips on my.38 are worth more than the gun:). I think hsguy and froggie are serious.

I put them for sale in the Trader forum.
I contacted both of the members today.
I put the asking price at $200 OBO so I would take a reasonable offer for these.

I am wishing now that I had a gun to put them on :) but I don't collect anything not related to WW1 WW2
