S&W HE .22 LR Revolver

A friend has a subject revolver which he would like to know what model is. SWCA member A10 confirmed that according to the serial number (K 114868) it is from 1951.

I *think* that it is a Pre-Model 18 “K22 Combat Masterpiece." Please, look at the pictures for details. Can someone confirm, or correct my opinion?

Also, does anyone know what the mark on the crane means?

Yes, a “pre 18”. An early one, I believe it has high horn grips. It’s been used but I bet it shoots as good as they day it came out of the box.

A K-22 Combat Masterpiece from 1951. The grips are "sharp-shouldered magnas." The stamps are fitter and inspector marks and an assembly number.
