Guess who I met today........

I met both Allen and Mark at the West Palm Beach Gun Show.

Let me tell you guys they had a great display and were busy as two guys could be. Why were they so busy? They have some nice stuff.

I spoke to Mark of the tele. about the other K-22 and it was exactly as he described it. It's mine now.

I didn't have time to check out the others but if your in the area go to the show or to their shop in Port St. Lucy. I'll be up to the shop next week to see the rest and maybe find some time to BS a little.

I told them they should list the guns here instead of GB because of the quality of the guys here. Plus no fee.

Thank you Larry. I think after talking to you I am going to hold the firearm untill I think I can get $3900 or better for it. Makes a good investment for latter on. Thank you everything we talked about. PS my partner offered me $2500 for it and I told him I have turned that daoe allready.

Nice Pre-war K22...

Looks like you've found a very nice pre-war K22 (tapered bbl and no barrel rib). I just paid $500 for a ~90% blued 1948 K22 (I wanted a shooter), but saw a couple of other post-war models in the same fine condition as your pre-war that were selling for $1000+. I'm not sure you're 1940 is in the $1900 range, perhaps more like $1200-$1500. Add a couple of C-notes if you had the original box and goodies. Did you check to see if the stocks have matching s/n? Buyers are a little funny about paying big bucks for .22s, but I think that is starting to change.

I'm getting into this discussion a bit late but would like to get more information on my S&W K-22. From the serial number, K 9997, it places it as 1947 manufacture. Is this right? What would the value of this be today.

This post was actually about a late pre war K22,
Your are correct your K22 probably shipped in 1947 and is a fairly early post war gun,
While the pictures dont show it your gun should have a one line "Made In USA" stamp on the frames right side, (1948 and later versions have a 4 line address)
If you remove the grips there should be a number stamped inside the right side wood grip matching your guns serial if the grips are original.
Condition and originality are the key factors effecting value but from the pictures it looks to be in high condition,
If the grips are original and there are no issues IMO around $750 give or take $100 , if you have the original box, docs and tools add another $150.
You can start a new post with several clear pics from other angles and you will get a better consensus,
How about a little history or more info, how long have you had it , any other stuff it came with,etc?

Welcome to the Forum.
I recently sold a one-line-address K-22 with a serial number just slightly higher than yours. It had numbered original stocks.
I can attest to the approximate price given by Engine49guy. Yours appears to be in fairly high condition. If the stocks number to the gun (and I suspect they will) you should hold out for a minimum of $700. You might be able to get $800. Box and docs would add more, as noted.
