After shooting my 2.0 compact the first time I looked into taking some sandpaper or steel wool to the frame. I never wear an undershirt so if I was going to carry it IWB the side of the gun next to my skin is way too rough. But since I mostly use it as a range or home defense gun I waited and the rough texture kind of grew on me. It irritated my hand the first time but I shot more rounds than normal that day and it has not bothered me since. I plan to buy an OWB holster in case I feel the need to carry something with more rounds than my Glock 43 and hope the weather will not make wearing an untucked shirt over the gun uncomfortable.
If you are not going to carry the gun IWB give it a few more range sessions and see if the aggressive texture still bothers you. You might start to like it, I did.
If you are going to carry IWB with no undershirt or just do not like the texture you can experiment on one of the grip inserts before you do something irreversible to the whole frame. I read somewhere that using fine steel wool will not discolor the grip the way sandpaper can. You have four grip inserts so there should be at least two you have no need for.

RTF is a Glock term. It doesn't apply to S&W. The two patterns are nothing alike. There are also a dozen threads on ruining the M2.0's textured finish.. Just search.

I have skipped the 2.0's so far due to that texture, but the compact 2 has been peaking my interest. I figure if i grab one, the first thing i would try is sanding down one of the back straps. May be a decent middle ground between grip feel in the hand vs not damaging the factory finish.
I used a sharp knife and just gently slid it across at an almost perpendicular angle and then hit it with 400 grit lightly. Turned out very well

TLAs are great! At work recently I came up with a TLA made up of TLAs, the much coveted TLA squared to describe a software component I wrote. AUT = AOA-USB-TCP = Android open accessory - Universal serial bus - Transmission control protocol.
Many engineers have attempted the mythical TLA cubed but so far none have succeeded. But we are working on it.
EDIT: TLA = Three letter acronym. I am pretty sure there is a milspec on the subject somewhere.

Well, anyway, I wish polymer guns were offered in Presentation Grade.
