I just purchased my first M&P 40 and need a little info. Most of my pistols were Sig and when I purchased a new one I changed out the guide rod with a stainless steel rod. Does anyone here have any input on changing out my S&W guide rod assy with a stainless guide rod assy. What other modifications can be made. Thanks

I haven't modified either of mine, love them both as is. Plenty of mods to make them your own. I'd shoot the cr*p out of it then see how you like it. The old saying "try it, you might like it"!!!!!:D

No reason to change the guide rod, unless you want to swap recoil springs.

Most of the M&P mods involve the trigger and sights.

Look into Apex products for a meaningful improvement to your pistol.

Sound advice for those new to M&P (like me).

Fire 1000 + rounds in it then think about what you don't like about it. Many have complained about a gritty feeling while pulling the trigger. APEX products and others can fix the gritty or just go and purchase a Pro series M&P. Welcome to the team!

I'm sorry my mistake ,mine is the Pro Series. It is suppose to come with a 4.5 -5.0 lb trigger. Still waiting for a chance to take it out and shoot it. Several years ago I had a Walther P99, How does the M&P 40 Pro Series compare to the P 99.
