S&W M&P 9mm

Just purchased a lnib M&P 9mm for a steal. It has a low round count and in excellent condition. Pics coming soon,been to busy killing paper with it since I got it two days ago. Anybody know of any issues this gun may have? Reliabilty? Ammo sensitivity? So far it's been a perfect shooter,especially at 25 yards. It's incredibly smooth an accurate. I think it's a keeper...what do ya'll think? Like I said,pics comin soon.

I just got an new old stock M&P 9c that was made in October 2008. It's been perfect for 300 rounds, so far.

Anybody know of any issues this gun may have?

From my reading, apparently there was a very early issue with the magazines dropping out. The pistols were made at the start of production beginning with MPA#### serial numbers. The serial numbers continued as MPB..., MPC..., etc. However, I don't know where the problem ended other than to say that it appears it was well over by 2008 production. MY serial number begins with MRK.

The fix for most pistols appeared to be the replacement of the magazine catch. S&W improved the hardness of the catch. For a few people, S&W replaced the frame if the catch didn't solve the problem.

Again, these were early production pistols. However, I'm not sure how long into production it took for S&W to get the improvement into their production line.

If you still have the fired casing that S&W provides with the pistol, the date on the package will give you an idea of when the pistol was made. Otherwise, a quick call to S&W will get you the date. They're very helpful.

This past year I picked up a very lightly used M&P 9c and was prepared to not like it. Other than the Walther/Smiths, when it comes to semi-auto Smiths, I far prefer hammer fired guns. Well, after the first time to the range I was in love with the gun. It's dead reliable, dead accurate, and ergonomically a perfect fit for me. Since then it has been perefect, and now rides in the center console of my Jeep filled with Cor-Bon Pow'Rballs.

I recall that when the M&P semi-auto first came out I was really annoyed with it as everywhere I turned it was there, from gun mags to gun TV shows, but believe me, I have gotten over that since

I know what you mean. However,there is one CULT that still pops up from time to time and it has nothing to do with the gun....Glockabees! I own a G19 but I don't worship it every morning or bow to it every evening. It's a good gun but the stigma of owning one gets to me.

I love my 9c. It seems to be getting better with the more rounds I put through it...or maybe I am just getting used to it . It seems to eat everything and I have had zero problems with it. It was between the Glock 26 and the M&P 9c. I chose the M&P 9c.

Hi new here. I go to pickup MP9 tomorrow.It is used but looks to have fired very few rounds if any. Someone traded it and a MP40 at a local shop. Looking forward to picking it up and putting some lead through it.

I have the 9FS and the 9C, both with approx. 1000 rounds through the pipe and not one hick-up on either one. Great pistol...you're gonna love it.

Several thousand rounds through my M&P 9mm and not one malfunction yet. So far its been a great gun.

I've had an M&P9 for about 3 years. It has loaded, fired and ejected any commercial or handload ammunition I've put into the mags. No really noticeable problems with POI consistency over a pretty wide range of ammunition. (Accuracy is something the shooter does). The one complaint I had about the pistol was initial front sight alignment and that was fixed by S&W in 7 days, ship to receive.

The M&P is well-made, reliable and performs competently. It's not my favorite handgun but I have no qualms about carrying it, using it for SD or taking it to the range.

Hey also new guy here and just bought a M&P 9mm yesterday. Haven't shot it yet, I look foward to it. Let me know how yours shoots. I like the fit better then my glock, well so far I like everything about this gun better then my glock, short of shooting it.

I want one too.I have fired my friends M&P9 and it is a real nice gun. Why its almost as good as my 6904 or 6906 so I may look in to getting one this week. we may be getting them as duty weapons.

Went out with my new to me M&P9 today and Friday shot 300 rounds of Winchester and Federal AE through it. Im very happy. Just wish I picked up a few more boxes of ammo.

I have an M&P9 fullsize that I got new from Bud's Guns several years ago for right at $400 including the transfer fee. It has an MPH XXX serial number, can't recall exactly when I bought it though. I haven't had any problems with the mag dropping out. It did sit for a few years when I used my G17 for a while.

The melonited striker did break fairly recently, approximately 800 rounds ago but S&W replaced it with the new chromed MIM striker with no further problems.
