Hello all,

I inherited a S&W mod 30-1 .32 long. Serial number is H291XX, any ideas of the approximate manufacture year?

Thanks in advance

I check ammoseek.com and sgammo.com every morning. I was able to buy several hundred rounds of 32 long this week. Also, Buffalo Bore always has their 32 long ammo I'm stock it seems.

I have H283xx that was shipped from S&W in October 1970. It’s likely that your M30 was shipped in late 1970 or possibly early 1971.

Smith & Wesson records do not show the manufacture date but only the invoice date from when the gun was sold. Also, they did not ship in serial number order when filling a sales order but whichever gun was pulled from inventory at random.

As steelslaver said the 32’s are a lot of fun to shoot but can be addictive and you may find that one is just not enough!

The .32 guns are a handloaders dream. You can load a lot of rounds with a pound of powder. Keep them light for the older guns, or spice them up a bit for modern revolvers like your 30-1.

I load lots of .32 S&W Long for my 31-1, and have a 30-1 incoming. I also load .327 Fed mag and .32 H&R mag for an SP101.
