S&W Model 101

Just as important ,what is the serial number??

that will date the frame and identify it as a M&P or model 15 etc.

Yes, it is strange either way. It reminds me of the Dayton model 14-2,
which is a model 14 frame with a heavy model 10 barrel installed.

This looks like a gunsmithing school gun from the S&w armorers class.
They could be very creative with lots of parts at their disposal.

Allen Frame

A 15-1 of this era has the front sight leaf that slightly overhangs the top strap, then the step in front of this is grooved, along with the barrel rib. Is this what your gun has?

Also, the SN (off the bottom of the grip frame) should have a letter in front. If it is a C, it is a model 10; if a K, then a model 15.

Took off grips and the Ser. # on the botton of grip frame is
C 462128 so it looks like it is a modified Model 10, just wonder if it was done by S&W, looks like a good job. Thanks
