I have a S&W 3913 serial #TEA9278 how do I find out when it was made?

Call S&W customer service. They will be able to give you the month and year of production.

From a forum search "3913 TEA8xxx - October '89" from fellow member smith46wesson TEA serial prefix 3913. At least its a ball park for now.

Do you have the original box? If so, there should be a 4-digit "spec ord" number that can be decoded. The first digit represents the year so you must at least know the decade (in this case, probably a 9 for 1989). The next three digits will be 001 through 365 and are the day within the year.

Smith & Wesson customer service indicated a 3913 marked TEA47xx was manufactured in February of 1990. Should be close to yours.
