I have a burris and would like to lower down to the position yours is in. Would you mind sending the info to me?
Also my burris has a fairly large dot which obscures a small target do you have that problem?

TCC... PM sent with instructions.

I've been thinking about a 41 for a while, and today I made arrangements to buy this set.

S/N a little under A600000, which I think points to about 1979. Shot some but not a lot, judging from magazine wear (it comes with two), and very well cared for.

Better pics coming in a few days. This is (I hope) my last bad cell phone pic. I expect to have a new phone by the end of the year that has image stabilization and better low-light image capture. It should produce more appealing grab shots.

That's not a red post sight; The previous owner just put some red paint on it. There's nothing on the sight on the shorter barrel, which looks like it was not used very much.

Early 90's model here with a vented 7" barrel and FO front Sight.

My College Pistol Team 41

I purchased this gun in 1973 new for $160 to shoot with on my college pistol team. The presentation case was hand built for me by my Father. Its never been dirty for 24 hours since new. It is semi-retired now. Somehow, I've got to figure out how to split it in two when it comes time to pass it down to my two boys. I hope that you can make out the dates on the tropies (1974-75). I feel real old right now.

My pair

Top Ser#A590xxx
Bottom A418xxx

Bottom looked like it had been polished to bare metal but a gunsmith said it's nickel. Does that destroy the value? Doesn't matter to me as I will never sell it.

Mine is sure sensitive. Won't shoot Winchester or Federal. After a trip back to factory, they called and told me to only expect CCI to be trouble-free. I thought that was pathetic! Mine does OK with Remington.

Bought one in the mid 70's. SN 94XX. Long bbl. with comp. I purchased a new short heavy bbl. from Midway several years ago.

I've read all the posts with much appreciation but have a simple question. Sorry to say I don't know where and in what form the cocking indicator is. Help, thx

Charlie

The cocking indicator is a pin that protrudes from the frame at the rear when the pistol is cocked and ready to fire. It was of dubious worth and many were deactivated in search of a finer trigger pull so S&W eliminated it in ( I think) the mid to late 1970's

Here is a photo
