S&W Model 41 production year

Hi, good people of the forum! I wonder what year this Model 41 is produced: #945xx?
I also got one from 1979, can there be any quality difference between these guns? (metal, precision..)
The grips are different from my 1979 model, does anybody know if the grips on the pictures are standard? (Click to enlarge)

Grips appear to be Herritt - to give Colt 1911 grip feel.

Production date would be close to the ship dates Tom has given.
The grips do look like the Herrett T41 Trainer.
How about posting a picture of you 1979 Model 41.

Interesting - does this one have the cocking indicator - right at the point where the dropped it. Target grip looks like Herritt also, but checkering is not normally seen. Good looking original grips. ENJOY.
