S&W Model 43

Hi everyone.

I would like some help dating a S&W Model 43 kit gun.

It has a round butt and Diamond grips.

Serial number is: 1152XX

I know it's somewhere in that 54-74 timeframe. Anything more specific would be helpful.

108087 is listed in the SCSW as a 1965 ship date, so that would be a good guess on yours. Hope this is helpful.

The SCS&W III says that the Model 43 with the round butt frame is 'very rare'. This gun was practically always seen as a square butt blue gun.

1152XX looks like 1965-1968.

I used to own M43 #115738 and it shipped in June 1968. Mine also had diamond grips.

Your M43 has a square butt.
