Picked-up this November 14, 1979 66-1 that was shipped to the Law Enforcement Equipment Co., Kansas City, Kansas. The order included stamping of "KBI" on the left frame beneath the cylinder. According to the 3rd Edition of the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, "KBI" stands for Kansas Bureau of Investigation and only 50 of these revolvers were shipped like this. This revolver is in excellent condition and the stocks are the original factory stocks. Haven't shot it yet as I am waiting for the weather to get above freezing!

That's a great looking snubby 66! I've been looking for one locally, but all I find are -2 and later. And they always want big money for them.
Congrats on your find.

66-1

Nice 66-1 in 2 1/2 inch. I Have a 66-1 also, the down side to mine is the stainless was polished by the previous owner. I much prefer the factory finish on yours. The KBI adds to its history, again beautiful piece.
