I have found a S&W model 66 - no dash with serial number #4K15430. Can anyone give me a mfg. date and possible value. I would put the pistol at 95% condition. It has the original SS sights and it is pinned and recessed. Here is a pic.

Thanks,
Jason

Well, it's going to depend on the market where you are. The early M66s are very much sought after. One issue with this one is the stocks. I may be wrong, but I don't think those are the originals. They usually had target stocks. Even so, it's a nice revolver, and I have to think it would be north of $500. I'm sure some of the folks who know the market better than me will be along soon with their answers, but if I was looking and had the cash I would certainly consider it at half a grand. Also the presence of the box and tools will add to the value.

I agree too, that the stocks are wrong. There is no box or paperwork, just the pistol. I'm more inclined to pay $450-$475, but I'm going to hold off until I get some other opinions.

Thanks for your help P&R Fan,
Jason

I paid $575 for a No Dash M66 4 inch in the Box 100%. No Stainless sights though, they are blue.

Thats a nice M66 , good luck!

I recently saw a SS rear site LNIB sell for $600.
I traded a 6" Model 28 for mine.
Looking at the pic you posted if you can get it for under $400 your doing good, Target grips are only around $50.

original ss sights... haven't seen them in a loong time... last time I saw mine, it was skidding sight down across the parking lot...don't ask...lol

First off, Hi everyone, I'm David. This is my first post here.
Second, sorry to dig up an old thread, but my question is very similar.

I bought a Model 66, s/n 4K17020 and I was hoping to get a DOB on it.

The more research I do on it, the more excited I get about my purchase.

What I know about it is: 66 no dash, pinned and recessed, red insert front ramp, and s/n 4K17020... I'm guessing the year of man. is 1974 or 5...

Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi David and welcome to the Forum. Looks like a really nice 66 you have there. According to the SCSW it looks like it was a 73 model.

I heard that!
They are certainly beautiful guns, aren't they?
I bought mine based on its looks (alone), THEN did the research, THEN fell in love with the blame thing.
