I have come across a really nice looking pre 10 4" has a little muzzle wear at the end of the barrel, a very slight speckle (about 1/2 the size of a BB) of surface rust near the front sight in front of the lettering on top of the barrel--which cleaned up with a little oil and 0000 steel wool but the roughness is still there (if you know what I mean). The lock up is superb as is the rifling in the barrel, and a very slight drag mark on the cylinder, I do not think it has been fired much, just holstered for the most part.
-----But here is the issue----the previous owner for some stupid reason filled in all the lettering on the pistol with some sort of gold paint.
I tried removing it with a little oil and a soft plastic brush but it had no effect at all, I dont know what else it could be other than paint, but before I try start using some other chemicals,,,,,could someone tell me what to use and what not to use......
