A friend gave me these beautiful grips and I can not identify what they go to. They do not fit my N Frame 626 or 629. He thought they were for an old S&W .22 cal revolver. Any help identifying would be greatly appreciated....

Sandersons the numbers stamped on the grips are the clue.

The Model 58 is an N-frame which the OP has already established is non-compatible. My guess would be a K/L frame.

There is no such thing as a 626, 26 maybe? If you meant 646 and they don't fit that either, that only leaves the J-frame - or a non-S&W.

In a previous post a relative of Sanderson stated he had hand patterns for customers and they were assigned a number. When he crafted grips he would stamp the number inside the grips. That is what the #58 indicates not gun model #

Ahhhh, now I understand. Thanks for the clarification.

Sorry - I have a 629 .44Mag and a 686 Custom in .357.. not 626..

Thanks,

Very nice indeed.

Do you happen to have a K-Frame that you could try them on?

Both of my S&W are N frames.. I will probably sell the grips later in the S&W ads here once I am sure what they are for.

I am quite happy with the grips on my two S&W's as you can see below :):D

686 Custom .357Mag on top. I have since removed the scope and base and shooting it straight sights again.
629 .44Mag on bottom...Both of these revolvers have some of the smoothest and sweetest triggers I have ever shot in a revolver. A friend thought they were too light at about 2.5 lbs single but I only use these at the range and not a hunter so I am very happy with them. AND by the way that is the way they both came from the factory....neither has ever had any work done on them . . . . .

Those are some Sharp looking grips, my bet is a square butt k/L frame. Those would look great on my 15-1!

S&W says the 686 is a K Frame while the 629-6 Classic is a N Frame yet the frames look identical to me and while the grip on the 686 is a K grip and the 629 has an "N" grip they seem to be interchangeable except for the tabs that stick up at the top of the grips.....

Your 686 is an L-frame and the 629 is an N-frame - both are round-butt configuration. The K / L / X frames all use the same grip frame. The grips in question are for a square-butt frame. The square-butt grips will fit on the round-butt frame except at the bottom of the back strap.
