S&W Semi-Auto Picture Thread

Thanks much! I haven't even been able to fire it yet...and I'm already in love. I'll bet it only gets better! My Colt must be getting pretty jealous about now.

Merry Christmas!

I'm not sure what an "Auto" is. Is that the kind where, when you push the thumb piece forward, the cylinder "automatically" falls out to the left? In that case, here are my "Autos".

Here's a photo of my (customized, by me) 4506:

I have mirror-polished the slide, and rounded ALL of the sharp-edges of the pistol (a full "melt"). I cut-off the "hook" from the trigger-guard, and nicely blended it. I have also given it a full "trigger-job".

The only change in what you see in the photo is that I replaced the Hogue Handall grip with a Pachmayr slip-on grip with fingergrooves, as it is flatter than the Hogue Handall slip-on grips. It still wears the full Hogue grip underneath...(And yes, it WAS a bitch to "slide" the rubber grip over the rubber grip...Don't try this at home...LOL...).

My father's S&W 4586. Issued to him brand new in 1991 when Idaho State Police transitioned from the S&W Model 65 to the 4586. When he retired in 1994 after 21 years of service they gave the pistol to him as a retirement gift. Many years ago I was not a big fan of this pistol or it's trigger, but as the years have gone by I've become a better shot and I've developed an appreciation for model. It's on loan to me. Very solidly built pistol.

Second and Third Cousins

These are my two........I do love them even though they are close relatives. The 459 was picked up LNIB and the 5906 was a LE turn in that I cleaned up and installed new grips. Any leads on where to find some nice wood grips for the 459?

What process did you use to clean up your 5906?
