My two Smiths, a Sigma 9mm with about 400 rounds through it, and a 22A with about 2,000 rounds through it. Both still running fine with no problems.
The whole family, including the Taurus PT140 Pro that I won at the FNRA banquet on Saturday. Not a Smith but I felt like sharing.
Here's my new (to me) 3953....

not really pocket friendly, but inside the waist band is comfortable.

The CS9 or CS9D are probably the closest to pocket size of the third Gens, but probably a little big even then but for cargo pockets.

My 4506 i bought in 1990 sent it immediately off to Robar for NP3. Carried it for 10 years and sold it twice but just bought it back from my buddy and had it completely dissasembled, cleaned, and re-springed. Put some XS Big Dot Night Sights on her and my Gunsmith Jeweled the barrel for me. Bought 3 new mags and polished them to bright stainless and have 4 more new mags coming from S&W under warranty sent my old ones back.
Now if Safariland can get their head out of their $^#@ and make me the correct Left handed 070 holster for the 4506 and not the 4506-1 then i would actually be able to carry it on duty again.
