MY 4566s
All,
My local SoCal Gunsmith got me into the 3rd Gens. Right now, I have six (2X 4566s, 2X 4003TSWs, 1X 645 [1988-vintage, so it qualifies as a 3rd Gen] and 1X 3913).
I tried in vain to get a 4566TSW so I can mount a light. No luck here in Kalifornia. Despite the setback, I had my gunsmith mount a Novak Stainless M1913 rail to one of them (it fits perfectly) so I can mount my favorite X300. The DevGroup switch is for the SIG P220/226. It also fits perfectly. It would fit the 645's square trigger contour too in case you're wondering.
I had the replacement S&W grips stippled by ROBAR. Many ask about them. To me it affords a decent grip without being too bulky, like the Hogues. They also don't 'stick' to clothes like the Hogues do.
The guns were both Atlanta-area police turn-ins and required a modicum of 'de-lousing' to be up to my (read: USMC) standards of cleanliness.
I mounted a set of Ed Brown Competition Safeties that I bought on Gun Broker. I thought I got 1/ea, but I purchased nine (9) in the deal. Two of the 9 were for the 9mm/.40 guns, so the 4003TSWs wear them as well. Good piece of kit if you can find them...
What you see is my brace of 4566s. I'm working on the 4003TSWs. One of them will have the rail removed, while the other will be the dedicated 'Rail Gun'. The X300's toggle switch backplate can be removed to give 3/8-inch extra travel for the TSW rail. The TSW rail only needs about 1/32-inch of material removed to fit the X300. EASY.
I'll send pics of the 4003s whence they are complete. Hope the picture posting works!
