S&W Semi-Auto Picture Thread

Just brought 'er home, a LNIB 6906 (we're not sure it's ever been shot but there's a note saying the warranty card was mailed 8/29/1990). Can't wait to shoot it tomorrow!

You know things are getting bad when…

Got this 2 weeks ago, former Colorado Springs PD gun, and qualed with it 2 days after I got it. It's in amazing shape barely any holster wear, bank vault lock up, perfect internals and 6 factory mags. Only problems are/were dead night sights, sheared rail rivet heads and Hogue grips. Replaced the grips already. Haven't decided if I'm gonna take it to the work room and ceracoat it yet or not, I think I'll have to flip a coin on that one.

Here's my hybrid 915-06. It's a 1993/4 vintage 915 with a 5906 slide mounted atop her frame.

Although I've had the 915 (with the original slide) for several years, I just recently set about making her into a decent spare 3rd Gen. Today (13 May), I just received the slide back from the artists at Novak's.

The guys there always seem to know EXACTLY how I want the slides set up. This is the fourth S&W slide I've sent them. Each time they hit the ball out of the park with the Turn Around Time and overall quality of work. This time, I specified the 3rd Gen Adjustable Novak rear with a new S&W front. They did a very good job. Had it back in 1-week!

They also cut down two CHP guide rod assemblies for my 6906 and re-cut the dinged muzzle on this gun's barrel. All of it with shipping was $250.

I've also done the following mods to this 915-06:

--Added a 6906 'shaved' slide stop (NP3'd)
--MIM trigger (NP3'd)
--5906 forged hammer (NP3'd)
--ROBAR-ized grips (Arched and Straight)
--Ed Brown oversized mag release
--CHP Guide Rod assembly
--Decock-Only modification (done by Vito at S&W)
--Loaded Chamber witness hole (done by Vito at S&W)
--17# Wilson Combat hammer spring (I'll eventually go to 15# for enhanced trigger pull)
--Action Job done by me (copious amounts of trigger bow polishing and other parts that interface with the trigger bow)

The ONLY thing left to do is to send her off to the Sokol Boarding House in West Rutland, VT to have her grip tang upswept and rounded, along with his world-famous high-grip modifications. While there, he'll refinish the lower end in his Black Mountain-Tuff finish.

I'll take the piece out this weekend to see if the sight mods and the re-crowning of the muzzle paid any accuracy dividends. She's a decent shooter, but could be more accurate, hence the sight and barrel work.

My New Old Model 41 72004

Just got her back from the S&W repair shop and she looks great. Can't wait to take her to the range. Does anyone know what the anotation of Ghost Material PISTL1 might mean on the invoice? Just curious.

Here's my 4586 (4.25" & 8+1) & 4556 (3.5" & 7+1)
Stainless frame & slide
Both DAO
PRO'S:
Accurate, reliable & buttery smooth short trigger pull
CONS:
Heavy (not a big deal with proper belt & holster)

A few of my collection.

A few of my collection. Don't have photo of my Sigmas, but I have both the .40 and 9mm. They are great workhorses and will eat anything I put through them. Good shooter, easy to breakdown and clean. They should sell for much more than what they do, but S&W has kept the price low and I'm glad they did. I bought mine around 7 years ago and have never regretted my purchase. The Sigma should be a must, as an inexpensive addition to any collection. There are a lot that complain about the trigger pull. It has never been an issue for me, but I'm not the best shot in the range. They are easy to rack too.

I purchased the 9mm Shield about a month ago, and have never had a slide do stiff and difficult to operate. I'm a lefty, and it kills my fingers to rack the Shield. Post on this Forum say it will loosen up after several hundred rounds.
