Here's my 4586 (4.25" & 8+1) & 4556 (3.5" & 7+1)
Stainless frame & slide
Both DAO
PRO'S:
Accurate, reliable & buttery smooth short trigger pull
CONS:
Heavy (not a big deal with proper belt & holster)

A few of my collection.

A few of my collection. Don't have photo of my Sigmas, but I have both the .40 and 9mm. They are great workhorses and will eat anything I put through them. Good shooter, easy to breakdown and clean. They should sell for much more than what they do, but S&W has kept the price low and I'm glad they did. I bought mine around 7 years ago and have never regretted my purchase. The Sigma should be a must, as an inexpensive addition to any collection. There are a lot that complain about the trigger pull. It has never been an issue for me, but I'm not the best shot in the range. They are easy to rack too.

I purchased the 9mm Shield about a month ago, and have never had a slide do stiff and difficult to operate. I'm a lefty, and it kills my fingers to rack the Shield. Post on this Forum say it will loosen up after several hundred rounds.

S&W Semi-Auto Picture Thread

Just finished dressing up the 910 I bought back in July.
(See original pics in post 1591)
Installed Hogue grips and a complete 915 slide.

Now I need a trip to the range.[emoji106]

police issue

I acquired a sweet 9 mm S&W police issued service weapon. CPD went to Glock and retired the 9s. Smoothest action ever. A bit heavy for daily CC. Purchased a S&W Bodyguard .380 . Easy to carry in my front pocket. I read several forums on the leftys having issue with the safety. It does create a problem in an emergency situation.

Model 5904 Advanced Improvement Program

Here is my only (for now) Smith and Wesson semi-auto. My wife owns an M&P 9mm, and I wanted to have a S&W in the same caliber.

From what I understand, as part of the Advanced Improvement Program, this handgun was likely built in 1988, and the very beginning for the production run.

I haven't had a chance to get it to the range yet, but I functions very smoothly and I expect it to work great.

One question though. The last picture shows the base of the magazine. Is it normal to have only a metal bottom, or should there be a plastic cap?

I'm certain you'll have a safe full of 3rd gens by this time next year, ask me how I know.

Looks like you have a 59 series mag, you can replace the metal base plate with plastic one if you like.

More mag info and pics here.
