s&w sent me illegal mags

Years ago there was a situation where a guy had his gun and the magazine it was designed for would only hold the 10 rounds..However it was also capable of shooting another type of cartridge in it that had just enough shape to it that the magazine would take the 11th round..Even though he was shooting the intended rounds in it that would only hold 10..They were trying to bust him just because it had the capability..
I have had to buy some 10 round mags for my 9mm hipower and a p89 and I can only get 9 rounds in them..was shooting in some amatuer shooting matches at a range that consisted of 10 round series and I would have to load a few in the mag then install the mag to chamber a round then pull mag out to get the 10th one in..

Just guessing but was it a 40SW Magazine that could barely fit 11 9mm in which probably wouldn't feed right anyways (Not sure if it would mess with the spring being filled to over capacity.)? People are abusing their authority by going after him like that.

Sir,
You just do not 'get it', really, do you?
Now go think about your post and come back & tell us that you have it figured out. Or not. I am sure there are lots of boys here who will help you 'get it'.
ps. you are not Libertarian even a tiny little bit.
You are obliged to educate yourself.

I think you miss my point. I'm not saying I want a 10 round mag limit. Reality is 10 round mag limit adds up to inconvenience for lawful gun owners, nothing more, and doesn't help the safety of society. But anti-gun liberals thinks it helps which, of course, is silly. Do I find humor in that? Yes a little, life is too short not to find humor when you can.

And as a teacher of Law, Government and the Constitution, I can assure you I get it and I know the political ideology of Libertarians.

You haven't done anything wrong or illegal, just send them back. What's the big deal?

FWIW...my .40 Shield only holds seven rounds and I'm fine with that. Granted, it's a limitation of the gun and not state statute, but I'm sure it is enough to get the job done. Although, I do enjoy the 15rnd capacity of my FS .40 at range time...less reloading.

The irony to me is that S&W is in Mass. and of all entities should know the nature of the regs there. Also, FWIW: there have been at least some guns in which the reduced capacity mags do not work.

Put .45's in them and they'll be legal ten-rounders.:D

I wouldn't send the mags back, I'd buy a gun they would fit.

Regards.

Bob

Not in the Peoples DemonKratiK RepubliK of KaliforniaStan you won't...........

You too are limited to 10 round magazines per the idiots in Sackatomatoes!!!!!!!!

I MOVED OUT..........

About as serious as well...To acquire the possession of a high cap mag post ban is a 5 year felony sentence in Cali and permanant loss of firearm rights. Probably the same there..May not be wise to try and keep any regarless of why since they can be dated and tracked back to source..They even count you shots at the ranges here...

FUD...

It is not illegal to possess "hi-cap" (stupid *** term BTW) in California. It is illegal to buy, manufacture, import, keep for sale, expose for sale, give or lend any large-capacity magazine in California except by law enforcement agencies, California peace officers, or licensed dealers.

Please study the laws before making such statements. Thank you.

And, counting shots at the range? Where do you come up with this stuff?

CA Penal code 12020 (a) (2)

CAL. PEN. CODE § 12020 : California Code - Section 12020

Anyone in state "X" where larger capacity magazines are restricted need only travel to state "Y" where no one cares and purchase them over the counter.

There are a number of customers in Mass who can legally have larger capacity mags. I'd be more curious as how the factory shipped ones of the wrong model and why anyone would buy a full size M&P to have an oversize 9mm pistol instead of just getting either a single stack 9mm or else a larger caliber firearm that held ten rounds or less anyway...

The 1911 in .45 ACP became even more popular circa 94 to 2004.

The EAA Witness in .45 ACP holds exactly ten rounds perfectly proportioned if anyone is living in Canada or some such place where it is an issue.

If counting shots at a range were common I would indulge myself in a half dozen or so inexpensive beater revolvers to always empty two at a time as quickly as I could to those snooping something to fret over.

Thank you for posting that, and it's exactly true.

And its exactly like what was said after. It's THEIR fault for importing them not YOURS. We can still buy Hi Cap mags here as "rebuild" kits to replace existing ones, you cannot buy "new" Hi Caps or transfer them blah blah blah.... I know its stupid but... I will leave it at that so I don't bring out the political soap box.

And no one gives a Rats *** if you fire 10 shots and reload or 20 shots and reload.

Gentlemen,
Focus on the issues, NOT each other.

From the general rules:
2. Remember- opinions will differ. Get over it. State your opinion calmly, and allow others to state theirs. Discussion will be fine, but there is no need to take a thread into a verbal fistfight or shouting match.

3. Do NOT descend into personal attacks on a member.
Naiveté, or viewpoints different from yours are no reason to call a member an idiot or moron.
If a poster is obnoxious, report him and ignore him.
Do not feed trolls.
