Hi Folks,

Not sure if this is the correct part of the forum to post this question. However, I have a Model 29-2 1977 era that I have always assumed to be new/mint. The side plate logo is not as crisp as others in my collection. So, can you tell me what could cause this? All other markings and indicators look crisp. No reblue stamps.

I recently sold this revolver and the buyer claims that it is a reblue because of the stamp.

Any info is appreciated.

Stampings and roll marks can vary in depth and "crispness". I own several that I know are original finish that the roll and stamp markings are weak, compared to several others where they are so sharp you catch your finger nail when running it over them.

There are several "tells" of a refinish, other than the sideplate logo. Like said above, a lot of good quality photos will get some sharp eyes on it.

I was convinced that the revolver was original finish. The buyer had apparently only seen a pic of the sideplate logo. He has since seen the entire revolver and now agrees that it is original finish.

I appreciate your help.
