I was at the range today and a guy was saying that Smith had stopped making J-frames and had no intention of starting production back anytime soon. I didn't know if this was correct so I kept my mouth shut.
As long as the 642 is their leading seller (the last I heard it was) they are NOT going to permanently stop making J's. The gnatweight scandium jobs seem to be selling well too. If they stop making steel J-frames I'll be seriously upset, but I don't see that happening either.
Scooter123 probably nailed it. On the other hand, the guy at the range may be a member of BOTFF--the Brotherhood Of The Foil Fedora. Or just a poor listener.
Or... he has a couple of J frames he is trying to sell![]()
