S&W will stop selling guns in Calfornia due to new microstamp regulations

I was really bummed to hear this today. I love my S&W M&P and view them as one of the most reputable gun manufacturers. Sadly, I understand the reasoning and don't fault S&W for their decision. Ultimately, it's us the consumers who will suffer.

California is so near-sighted when it comes to gun regulations. If S&W pulls out because of the microstamping requirement we'll surely see more manufacturers follow suit. So what will happen next. It'll be people going to their local public library and printing up their own gun with no registration at all. What's the worst of two evils here?

As it is, I have to show my ID and give a thumb print whenever I buy ammo in Sacramento, CA. And if I buy a gun I can expect an anal probe to go along with the purchase. OK, no probe yet, but's its just a matter of time.

I would like to see all firearms companies stop selling to ca and all "ban" states, NY<NJ<MD<MA< etc starting with LE FIRST. No parts, no repair, no warranty, no service. Basically what Barrett did. If the industry got together and said NO to the ban states ( if no sales to civilians then no sales to LE ) mags, guns, parts etc change would come about quickly. Since mayors, governors, PC,s, state level reps/sen etc would have a " Protection team armed with sticks, knives, pepper spray" What can/could the state do? Ban firearms? Confiscate firearms from civilians? " This way everyone in the state would be "SAFE" since criminals would not be able to buy guns!! We would see a large number of the liberal anti-gunners have a change of heart and for those that stated " I would rather die than use a firearm for self defense" let nature take it's course, thin the herd. Be Safe,

The only defense against it will be a COMPLETE refusal to sell, especially to LE and security type organizations, in the "ban states", (including parts, accessories and service) otherwise the liberals win, and this will spread to other liberal, gun grabbing states.

What's sad is the same liberals in California who voted for the politicians who passed that **** are slowly moving out of California and to other states. Example: Colorado. NY and NJ liberals are also moving into PA. Typical liberal logic: Ruin a state by limiting their rights, destroying business, and raising taxes then move onto another state and repeat.

Actually, the liberals from California are staying put. It's the conservatives who are leaving in droves now. I know, I just left in Nov. after 41+ years on SoCal.
What the other states are seeing is the spread of the liberal disease (kinda like the zombie apocalypse, only with liberals). And now they have found a way to back-door gun control.

While I totally agree with this strategy, I suspect that all major manufacturers have contracts that require them to service guns sold to police organizations, etc. Breaking these contracts most likely would result in major, major lawsuits.

Indeed.

America - It was fun while it lasted.

We are the generation witnessing the end of the Republic.

In most areas of the country things have improved in recent years. IIRC, y'all couldn't even carry concealed in Ohio until a few years ago. Shall Issue has swept the country... there is no longer a Federal AWB... Supreme Court has ruled in our favor supporting the 2A. Of all places.... Illinois, the home of our beloved anti-gun President, is now issuing carry permits! Pigs do fly! Even after one of the worst school shootings, the gun grabbers suffered a humiliating legislative defeat in Washington. Sure there have been setbacks in some states but in general I believe we have been moving in the right direction in recent years.

Is it my imagination, or wasn't there a big debate on if microstamping even works at all because of how much the stamping will fade after each firing? Nevermind reloaded brass. And various other circumventions. Not that logic ever had bearing on politics...

There you have 99% of it in a nutshell.

Yet people keep voting for the talking heads from both parties. I say completely abandon BOTH parties and then we might get somewhere. I want someone to represent me, not some party that holds their purse strings.

Smith will continue to sell to LE in Cali 'cause if they don't then Glock and Beretta will gladly fill the gap...stockholders won't want to give up market share.

I do hope you're right, my friend. But on all fronts it appears those who would prefer to depend on a government to do their thinking and providing for them are a majority.

What good is microstamping if all you have to do is make sure you pick up all your brass? No evidence left behind.

I think this is GREAT!

Now I shouldn't have to wait weeks/months on production orders, to get my next new Smith. Kinda got my mind set on one of the Performance Shop pistols...
