Good Morning!!
I haven't had coffee yet so I'm not responsible for content! :-)

It was a busy week around here, with lots of rain, storms, covid, old grumpy guys, (me), etc, etc.

Our youngest Daughter tested positive for covid last week, and is not feeling well. She scared us half to death with a temperature of 103° last Tuesday night.
Sometimes things that happen can affect you for good or bad in the future. Of course I believe God can and does cause things to happen. We haven't had physical contact with her since July 31st, when her car broke down, so her travel was limited during this time. She hasn't run a fever all week after the first night. If you pray, please call out her name to the Lord. Her name is
Diane. She hasn't had the shot, but says she will get it as soon as she has recovered.

Had some good fig preserves for breakfast, along with coffee, so I'm better now. Things are much clearer.

My 82 year old Brother just came by to pick up a jar of fig preserves. He will have to supply his own biscuits. :-)

There is a thread about boats in the "Lounge". With comments about spending lots of money on them and being a "money hole." A boat is a great thing, at least mine has been. I call it "Ole Blue", and have spent many pleasant hours in it, and the first one I owned.

The lake that I fished is almost 300 acres, and no gas motors allowed, just electric trolling motors. I have two mounted, one each on the front and rear.

When I was young, I fished entirely to much, and would get upset when I didn't catch anything. Finally the light came on, and I realized that fishing wasn't all about catching fish, it's about spending time with God, friends, and family. Catching fish is just a added blessing. I hope to regain my strength and go fishing again before the year is gone.

I've added a couple of photos, one of my lovely wife (MBH) with a bass, and one of the lake.

Enough!!

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Good Sabbath Leon,

Morning walks have been murderous this week. 100% humidity. Even Quigley is lookin for the AC.

We said a prayer for Diane.

I recently almost stepped on a Copperhead, so I broke down and bought some Rocky snake boots. We're in the wet woods every morning. So far, these are GREAT boots. I have bad, worn out feet and these wear like a pair of tennis shoes!

I'm in the doghouse. I spilled a large glass of ice water on MLW's new oriental wool rug! I rolled some golf balls under it and put a floor fan out to try and dry it out.

I over did it in the heat this week. I cleaned all the downstairs windows on Tuesday. I did the lawn on Wednesday. I got dehydrated and realized I'm not superman anymore.

I shot in our official 100 yard rimfire bench match yesterday. I did poorly and came in fifth. The wind was a little weird with high humidity.

Sweat on the rifle.

Speaking of boats. An old church elder I knew named his boat "Visitation".

"Where's Brother Jack?" someone would ask his wife. "Oh, he's out on visitation!" she would answer.

So...for this upcoming week...Trust Him and he will bring it to pass. Whatever it is that's bothering you!

This Sunday finds me a few hundred miles from home and in Destin, FL for a long weekend. Some very good friends of ours have even better friends who generously offered up their home in a gated community. I feel like the serf who snuck into the castle.

The house in on a lake, surrounded by other houses of similar, impressive size. Watched an Osprey work over the lake and a brief thunderstorm float down the beach.

When to check out the LGS(s) with my friend yesterday. Gulf Breeze Pistol Parlor/Gulf Breeze Firearms, we discovered, has been out of business for a pretty good while. Oak Ridge Gun Range and Gun Shop is very nice with a very decent inventory. Several shooters were finishing up there morning practice sessions.

Headed back toward Destin and stopped at Trade Winds Pawn & Gun. This is my kind of place. Probably over 250 long guns, or more, of all kinds with an impressive number of U.S. Military firearms. M1 Garands, 03A3's, 1917 Enfield rifles and several surplus .22 bolt action rifles with a Kimber M82. Probably 8 to 10 Browning A5's and several other nice vintage shotguns.

The handgun selection was nice as well. They had at least a dozen prelock S&W's including a nickel 2.5" Mod. 19. I highly recommend this shop to anyone in the area. Perhaps member Jimmy gets up there every once in a while.

My friend found a very nice Marlin .444 with a monte carlo stock. He is chewing on it and will probably cal back to buy it when he gets home to save the sales tax. The Marlin is in 95%+ condition. The owner and his assistant were very helpful.

I found two cans of Birchwood foaming bore cleaner, in spray cans, a spray can of Ballistol and a box of 200 gr. Hornady 200 grain XTP bullets at a righteous price!

Looks like we are headed to the beach for a little fun in the Sun and seafood at the Back Porch later on this afternoon. I will have to build up my stamina for the drive back to TN tomorrow. I hope today is a "long" day!

What you said here is so true. My paternal grandfather started up the family fishing trips in Canada in order to help increase bonding in the family, and it continued for 4 generations. The fish have been long consumed, but the memories of being with my granddad, my dad, brother, sister, aunts, uncles and cousins last forever.

It's the start of a new week. Amazing how fast the month and summer are going by. My uncle and I had our morning texts so for another day my nearby family and I know that we're all OK. I stopped in to see my aunt and uncle yesterday and one of my cousins was there too so it was nice to see everybody.

Yesterday was a busy day. My Mercury Grand Marquis (Batmobile #2) wouldn't start. Luckily the car was in my garage so I wasn't left stuck somewhere. So the routine began, checking the manual to see what could be the problem, then starting with the simple remedies so I wouldn't have to get the car towed to the dealer. The portable "hot shot" didn't work, but luckily I had a set of jumper cables that were long enough to connect the two Batmobiles, and I was able to jumpstart the Merc and drive to AutoZone and get a new battery. When I checked my records I found out that the dead battery was 7 years old so I figured it was time for a new battery.

The Cleveland Browns are on the NFL Network today, so I'd better get out my jersey so I can properly watch the game. Everyone enjoy the day wherever you are.

Prayers sent Diane's way Leon. They truly make a difference, even when the outcome isn't what we want.
Gave bushels of tomatoes away this week, as well as green bell peppers and green beans. Too much work, not to enjoy sharing the harvest with others....love the smiles when I say I don't want anything for it....if you pay me something, than the importance of my gift seems lost....

Peace, and stay safe
