The mass of Saharan dust reached Texas today. We are forecast for hot and hazy conditions the rest of the week. There are a lot allergens attached to that dust going by the sinus attack that bloomed as soon as I got up this morning. Going to be a lovely week with poor air quality conditions. Guess I will spend it mostly inside.

A while back was in N Texas headed East on Highway 287.
And I was in a pretty remote area. All of sudden I see a Camel!
Then another, then several. Then Mo Humpers.
I have told folks probably a 100.
After further thought, probably around 50.
But for sure the most Camels I ever saw!
And these were Middle East One Humpers.
Sahara dust probably made them Homesick!

Here in S. FL I notice a little dust on the vehicles but not much else.

When I was in Israel in February 1992 during the rainy season, I was driving in the rain and I was wondering where the dirt was coming from when there were no other cars on the road. My relatives told me that it was Sahara dust carried in the rain cloud.

Bring on my Sharan Dust! It helps to take mositure out of the air and cuts down on hurricanes........

Saharan dust plumes can significantly impact hurricane season by suppressing tropical storm development. The dust, carried by the Saharan Air Layer (SAL), introduces dry air and wind shear, hindering the formation and intensification of hurricanes. However, while Saharan dust can reduce hurricane activity, it can also contribute to more intense rainfall from landfalling storms.
