San Diego - LGS/Pawn Shops

I am off to San Diego tomorrow - is there any local gun stores that is in the area and worth visiting? Also, recognizing the rules are restrictive in California, do pawn shops sell handguns and if so any advice? Thanks

I have a gun nut nephew that worked at a pwn shop in the bay area. He said he never saw a knife and no pawn shops had FFL's.
