I got sprung on Wednesday evening and am on the mend.
Just before I got sprung I told the MD that before they threw me out I would like to know that I can still walk.
For two weeks I had been confined to a bed flat on my back. One week in ICU here in town and one week in Dothan that had more/better diagnostics available if required. And while in Dothan I fell through the cracks with PT.
Shortly before getting released the PT crew walked me around the floor for 300 feet. They determined that I would be better off recovering at home with Home Health rather than a Rehab facility.
After release and a short 28 mile drive home I tried to get from the car to the house. I could not even stand by myself. Nothing wanted to work.
The end result was a 911 call and help from the FD & Rescue Unit.
Four guys finally used their gear and got me into my recliner. That is where I stayed, fast asleep for over 13 hours.
Home Health and PT visited yesterday and today I see my MD at 8:30.
At any rate, I am still alive and well and on the mend.
Thanks for all of the well wishes and the assist from Jim Calams and s&wchad.

Sorry to hear you have issues. Glad to know you are on the mend. Pray you get a good Physical Terrorist; they are worth their weight in gold.

Thom, sorry to hear this. Good grief! Very, totally, irresponsible of your facility's PT people.

When you are recovered, would be a kindness to other and future patients if you were to ensure that whoever manages the hospital PT team — whoever head of hospital is or beyond — is held responsible. (Or perhaps a report to the PT licensing board, etc.)

In the meanwhile, my very best wishes for your swift and full recovery and return to your normal life.

I've been following your saga elsewhere...I know from experience what a great feeling it is to escape from the hospital...Stay on the mend and behave yourself...:)...Ben

Thom, even with the current difficulties you are a "Stand Up Guy." I remember meeting you and Debbie in the WalMart parking lot Kissimmee, must be at least 15 years ago. It's too bad that when enough time passes our "warrior focus" becomes maintaining our spot on the planet. Get well soon. Joe

Praying for your speedy recovery. You be sure to stay on top of those docs, it seems you really need to advocate for your own healthcare these days...

You should have had regular PT plus PT in bed, ROM for arms and legs to keep them limber. I'd say they fell way down the crack in your care.
