Have a Savage 110 in 30-06 I picked up real cheap. Pre-accutrigger. It shoots great, when it shoots. See the previous owner attempted a dyi trigger job, and wasn't exactly successful. Now, while it has a nice light and Crisp trigger, the hammer doesnt stay cocked unless you engage the safety before putting the bolt back iinto the down position. Obviously a problem and I've messed with it on and off to no avail. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks

Problem is do you know what all they did to it?
AS long as they didn't go to grinding on anything here are the instructions on adjustment.
Savage 110 Trigger Adjustment

IF you suspect they modified the trigger / sear engagement surfaces you need to replace those parts.

Fortunately, there are tons and tons of used ones out there and either the parts themselves or a donor gun to rob of parts and sell the rest are easy to come by.

Hey that guide was exactly what I needed, thanks. Nothing was grinded or polished. I used to work with the guy and I understand about the metal being to soft for that inside. Thanks a lot for the link

There's also an adjustment video on You Tube.

Or use this as a good excuse to install a Timney. Depending on desired weight they're $99 to $119 for a pre-Accu-Trigger Savage. Since you got the gun cheap this might be a justifiable upgrade.

I have found several cheap Timney triggers on eBay, but for Mausers. Check there first, you might find one for a 110. I have a 112V, the heavy barrel varmint rifle version. The trigger on it is superb, the proverbial "Breaking Glass" release, almost good enough for bench rest competition. I don't need no stinkin' Timneys.

Brian in Oregon no offense intended, but did you even watch that video or just offer uninformed help? I appreciate the gesture but that guy has no idea what he's doing, he only adjusted one screw when there are four. Its people doing **** like that that caused my rifles problems in the first place. There is a very obvious reason why that video has more dislikes than likes. Like I said not trying to come off as a d*ck but you sharing stuff like that makes me not want to trust any advice you've given anyone at all. Basically what I'm saying is nobody trust that video it's bad advice that can screw up your trigger like mine was.

On the savage 110 series of actions pre accu trigger you have to watch what you adjust as you can make the safety inopporable. And when done don't forget the thump test by bumping the buttstock against the floor. If set too light rifle will discharge so no live ammo in the rifle. I did mine a savage 110FP heavy barrel in 308 but was a long time ago. That rifle outshoots my sendero in the same caliber 308. Frank
