Is that the them dueling banjos I'm hearing?
The old OC bugaboo, surfaces every couple of days. Same ol' extremist(see, I can use that term also) arguments.
And those that support a persons right to carry in the manner they deem suitable for themselves have been called "pioneer heroes, fanatic, idiots, dumb, etc" And the best one, some have "started in those(youtube) videos"Yup. Anyone not in uniform OCing in Home Depot falls into three categories--"Mentally retarded", "tactical idiot" or "dopey".![]()
Why? So it can be repeatedly answered? Thanks, but it was a rhetorical question. One that I think should be repeatedly asked.
Where I live, our permit is issued for five years. Upon renewal, you must disclose all your prescription drugs. So, if in the interim, you start having bouts of depression and a doctor places you on anti-depressants, you can lose your permit for being on these drugs and you can also lose the permit for not disclosing this fact, if they find out.
My point is that perhaps something has changed in this man's life since he acquired his handgun or the right to carry it. If someone is no longer competent to have guns, for any reason including war injuries, then either preemptively deny him the right to have guns are we can wait until wipes out his immediate family or takes out a shopping mall. Most won't turn violent but there's always that one tenth of one percent that will.
Why? So it can be repeatedly answered?
Handicapped person's have right's, it's a Federal Law. The
Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. And you better not infringe on their rights. It's the Law!
Can't discriminate against them...no way shape or form.
My understanding is that we were all endowed by our Creator with rights, not granted them through the good graces of politicians.![]()
Agreed. I think that that's what the OP was telling us.
I don't think so. A retired cop, a gun nut who posts on this site, who was first in line behind the gun-toter? I think he knew real from replica. But you could ask him how well he saw the gun, and I reckon he would remember and report back.
One thing that makes absolutely no sense to me and I think may be the reason so many here (including me) are having a hard time accepting the OP's mentally impaired diagnosis is that (according to the OP) the guy was incapacitated to the point of requiring a caregiver and the caregiver allowed him to walk around armed? That makes zero sense.
If the guy was that impaired I think it's much more likely that he was carrying a toy or a replica of some kind rather than an actual working firearm
It was a stainless 1911 with the hammer back and safety on. Two stainless mags on his weak side. Since 1911's are made by so many manufacturers, who knows what manufacturer made it?
Jeez. People who are gonna tl me hey can't tell when a person is mentally challenged? Do I know if it was autism or aspergers? Of course not. Never claimed to be a doctor. All I know is I am concerned when I see a person who probably got extra time on all his tests in school ( it's called an IEP- individual education plan) or more likely due to his age wasn't even mainstreamed into a regular class, carrying a deadly weapon where you DONT get extra time to make a decision, I don't like it. When I see a person of apparently normal intelligence who doesn't require an aide to follow him around, I just think "here comes Rambo" since I never see it near me. Pretty much everybody I know around here owns guns. Most carry them concealed
See, the OC advocates are gonna say you need to allow OC in your business because we have to change that mindset. Never mind your business or your profits or your ability to pay your employees so they can feed their children! Those OC "pioneers" are heroes who are going to change everything!
And I know that this guy at Home Depot wasn't one if those looking to make a political statement, but the guys with the AR's at the rallies and in the malls. The ones having a "sit-in" in restaurants. The guy walking up and down he street in New Hampshire who gave the cop a hard time and video taped the altercation. These people are idiots and do not advance the cause of gun owners
Go to YouTube and watch the videos of the OC fanatics looking to draw attention to themselves. Maybe some member here have started in those videos
Like Adam Lanza's mother did? Oh, right. She didn't. Where is she now? Along with about 21 children and their teachers?
It has been answered again and again. On this thread. It's been asked again and again if you were that concerned why didn't you call the police and voice your concerns?
So......My problem with anyone who OC's is universal. I don't know this individual, his state of mind or level of training. That, and as I've stated here in the past, I've never encountered an OC type that didn't have an attitude. So there it is. If OC is legal where you are and you want to partake, that's your right. I'll be the guy slowly moving away, out of the line of fire.
If a dishonorable discharge or a misdemeanor conviction for domestic violence bars you from owning a gun then so should mental impairments
Oh, and don't presume that you can declare who is and who is not an extremist in this debate. You don't rate that.

or surrendered to some alleged majority of opinion.
It's been asked again and again if you were that concerned why didn't you call the police and voice your concerns?
So now we're at "Anyone who had an IEP can't carry a gun?"
It has been answered again and again. On this thread.
Unless you're a law enforcement officer, right?
