Nice gun, but, I honestly do not know what I'd do with a .500 S&W handgun. Shoot elephants? There are none here in AZ. :D

Nice - I too have the Alaskan in 454, looking to get a 44 in that also. I have the 500 & 460 in the 8 & 3/8" barrels. Lot up some hot stuff in the Alaskan and compare it too the hot stuff in the 500 4" - honestly, keen to see what you think.
Hot 454 Alaskan's are more of a handful than the 8 & 3/8" 500 - to me at least, ymmv.

And, I also want a 4" 500 and a 4" 629......and so it goes.

FloridaFlier maybe you could use it on one of those 20 foot pythons we've been hearing you guys have down there. Of course the alligators might also make reasonably good targets if you let then get big enough. I saw one all the way up in Charleston, SC that I wouldn't have wanted to tackle with less than my Model 29 with hot handloads. He would have gone about 8' plus.

This is my 2nd 500 SW in past 7 years. Like a lot of guns I have sold, I regretted it after. I have been slowly replacing those regrets with hardware. The 500 is a handful but a lot of fun. That's why I bought it. Not to shoot elephants or alligators...to enjoy the shooting experience!

Does that come with a fire extinguisher?
