In 2009 I bought a used 2000 4x4 Silverado with about 100K miles on it. Since I bought the truck, I had a stroke. I had to learn to walk and learn to drive again! So in some ways, this is like my first car.

Today it is around 275K miles rusting around the wheel wells and rocker panels. It still starts at the first touch of the key, but the bearings and steering are pretty bad, so it much younger brother will be coming home with me today.

I was cleaning out the tools and trash, and found receipts from guns and lunches long ago, but they seem like yesterday. My truck's have always been like a family member to me, and I hate to see it go! I remember when I bought this truck, as I drove away from the young mans house, he stood in his driveway and tears ran down his cheeks. At the time I thought he was a little silly, but today I completely understand.

I started driving in May 1973 in a 1971 Chevy 3/4 ton pick-up

Followed by a 1973 Impala wagon

My first new car a 1974 K-5 Blazer

A 1981 GMC 3/4 ton in Candy Apple Red

The Toyota and 2 Rangers just didn't feel like family

But the 1979 1/2 ton Suburban with 325K on it, was the joy of my kids learning to drive, rescuing stranded motorists, and getting a friend's son to basketball practice through 125 miles of blizzard, pulling a camper on family outings. (probably my favorite and least cost per total mile, truck!)

A 1995 and a 1999 S-10 were almost as cramped as the Toyota!

a 4x4 Astro van was a hoot in the winter.

this 2000 Silverado

And my new to me 2014 half ton, 4 door, 4x4, Black stripes on Black body Silverado! I am filled with anticipation for what this truck will bring. If all goes according to plan, this is my last truck, It and I should wear out at about the same time. This afternoon, stock the new truck for work and adventure; throw in some rifles and ammo and off to the range for the first of many wonderful days with my new truck!

The Pickup way

Congratulations on your new to you Pickup. Sorry to hear about
the Stroke, sounds like your doing well now.

Sounds like an adventure, going to test out the New Silverado
and going shooting too.

Bought mine from a young man, that was going to get a company
Pickup, in Spring of 1998. I don't ever think I'll be getting rid of
my '97 Chevy Silverado.

New Pickups are way too expensive, and my does well. I've
babied mine and it will probably out live me.

Thanks for sharing the Story and the Best to you.

Here's my Suburban toward the end. Still looked good but it was beginning to rust all underneath and my body man had retired to Florida. I wound up donating it to a charity who would use it to fund organ transplants for kidney patients. It was so hard to say goodbye [emoji3590]

The guys and I need a road trip! Jf you think the fried baloney is good, save room for the half chocolate/half peanut butter cream pie!

Now you are talking, my uncle used to live near the Delaware Wildlife area and we used to go there when it was on the north side of Main street back in the 70's. George owned the building the tavern is in now, but it was a grocery store back then. They had a great pizza there too. The pepperoni was covered by the cheese. A buddy of mine and I went up to go hunting with my uncle. We were about 16 or 17 and we snuck off to the tavern. We ordered 3.2 beer and they served us. We thought we were big time. Pizza and a cool one. Bought a lot of furniture from Grolls over the years. Now they have a showroom at Easton. Man
