Scoop on scopes

Personally I'd stick with an adjustable objective scope or a rimfire scope if at all possible. Generally the parallax setting on centerfire scopes will be set at 100 to 150 yards. That Nikon rimfire scope you mentioned probably has the parallax set at 50 yards which would most likely suit you better.

What he said. All the scopes on my .22 LRs are AO. Only my .223 and .280 are fixed objectives.

anyone know where online to find cheap red dot sights or scopes for the m&p 15-22? im talking <60$... is there a sure fire way of determining if a scope will be mountable on the 15-22? if a scope fits on the 15-22 rifle will it always fit on regular AR-15 rifles as well?
It's not <$60, but $79.99 w/ free shipping (same price as Amazon Prime)
Bushnell Trophy Red Dot TRS-25 3 MOA Red Dot Reticle Riflescope, 1x25mm (Matte):Amazon:Sports & Outdoors@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91aSmnLKqbL.@@AMEPARAM@@91aSmnLKqbL.

If it mounts on the 15-22, it should mount on a "regular" AR-15.

I'd pass. I had one. It quickly ended up in the junk box and given away.
Runaway from any of those cheap Asian reflex sights unless it says TruGlo on it. Those are the only ones I tried and actually used for more than a year (3 years in fact). There are a few nice and relatively cheap tactical scopes that work fine on a 15-22. Sniper, Inc 1-4x28 with cantilever mount for around $120 is pretty nice because it has an illuminated BDC reticle similar to many expensive 3-gun tactical scopes. If you like mildot reticles AimSport has a 1.5-4x24 illuminated reticle that would work on the 15-22. I own one of each of those. I ended up putting the AimSport one on a Browning BL-22 lever gun where it works pretty good as a short range groundhog terminator.

I just put a Nikon 4x32 ProStaff rimfire scope on my 15-22 SBR build (chop)...I love the Nikons. Since I have a 3-12x42 Monarch on my Browning .300 WSM and a 3-9x40 Buckmaster on my Remington 700 SPS in .25-06 already, I decided to stick with Nikon - I think they're great scopes.

I'm thinking about picking up a vortex crossfire ii 1-4x24 w/v-brite reticle for my 15-22. It has a 30mm tube, good eye relief, lightweight-16oz(considering illumination), capped and zero reset turrets.Best warranty out there. Costs $200-250. Awesome optic for the price. I typically plan on spending at least half the price of the rifle on its glass, but that's just me. I'd rather spend my money with a American company like Leupold, Vortex or Trijicon than on a Nikon or Chinese knock off.
Nikon quality is at just about the same level as Vortex and a little behind Leupold and Trijicon. You have to remember a number of companies design stuff here and have them made it Asia so sometimes it is hard to tell. The Vortex Crossfire II is a decent scope although it is not in the same league as the Vortex Viper PST or something like the Burris MTAC 1-4x24. those cost as much as the rifle. Suprisingly almost anything Primary Arms sells is decent even their in house designed, Asian made scopes. The one Asian scope I have seen that has good quality and value is the Sniper, Inc., 1-4x30 at around $140. Decent illuminated BDC reticle, a larger front lens to increase the brightness, a 30mm tube, and externally lockable turrets. Stick it on one of the cheap $35 Asian clones of the Burris PEPR mount and you can hardly tell the difference between it and some of the $300 tactical scopes. I currently use Burris MTAC tactical scopes in 3-gun but the Sniper, Inc. scope make a decent one for a .22 trainer and that is what I use one for. I own a lot of scopes including Nikons, Vortexes, Bushnell Tactical Elites not to mention 3 or 4 BSA ones I use on .22s. I don't buy scopes based on price level but on performance level. If the job needs a $1000 scope I buy it but I am always on the lookout for a great bargain. Primary Arms has good value even to 3-gunners, especially those that can't afford the Bushnell, Burris, or Vortex tactical scopes in the $1300 range much less the $2000-$3000 or more ones the big guys use.

I have a Nikon 223 BDC 600 4-12x40 on my Mossberg MVP 24" Medium Varmint rifle in .223. On the other hand my Howa 1500 .308 LR competition rifle has a Bushnell Tactical Elite 6-24x50mm on it which along with a 20 MOA offset scope rail is the minimum I can get away with to shoot to 1000 yards. My 6.8mm AR DMR rifle has a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 (because they were on sale at Midway for $299 when I was looking for an optic) for those matches out to 600 yards.

I use two options. Leupold ultralight 3-9x and a bushnell trs-25.
The 15-22 is lights weight so I didnt want to add a bunch more.

If I was on the market for a new rimfire scope I would wait for the ACSS22lr 6x that Primary Arms is working on. After the fixed 6x, it sounds like they plan on coming out with a 1-6 rimfire scope.

ACSS stands for Advanced Combined Sighting System. It allows you to easily compensate for bullet drop and estimate the range, wind, and lead.

Introduction to the ACSS22LR 6x

This will be the most fun you will ever have with a rifle! Yeah first round hits at 800 yards using 5.56/.308 with standard ACSS was fun! That is nothing like hitting a full soda can at 200 yards with a 22 and watching spray everywhere!!! Able to range clay pigeons, soda cans and plastic beer bottles. Also any pests or small game of equal size! Guys please keep your range clean and your kill shots humane.

No ETA as of yet. Please reframe from calling in, I promise ill keep everyone posted on here.

Patrick Messmer I like it but I would like a version in the 1-6 for my .22 trainer rifle. I realize the reticle would only work on max power. Great stuff keep up the good work.

Spend a few bucks and stay away from the cheapest scopes/sights.Parallax isn't really a problem until you get into the higher magnifications. If it bothers you,it's pretty easy to adjust on most scopes.Use a strap wrench to remove the objective bell and adjust it.

I got one of those cheap reflex sights free on a 2nd hand Airsoft gun I bought and I ran it for a while on my 15-22. They actually work really well for the 15-22. There is no need to hunt a "Tru-glow" one, they all come out of the same factory in China. Mine was an NC Star one, but it is identical to others I have seen.

I've recently "upgraded" to an NC Star rubber armoured blue illuminated crosshair 4x scope. The SRT one with the laser.

It works, it does the job and it doesn't break the bank.
