Scratched up S&W Revolver

A little much for a shooter and with that scope I'd imagine it's a shooter but, still, I like it. ;)

Also, that's as close as S&W ever came to making a replica of the gun that I personally think is the best looking revolver of the Old West, the 1875 Remington. So, I really like that wheelgun! :)

With engraving there is a very fine line between enough and too much. The buyer makes the final judgement.

Diggin' it. For me, if engraving must be done, it should be full tilt boogie; anything less just looks unfinished.

Ugly as ..... well you know. The only thing (in my mind) that can be done to that to make it good looking is to add about 3 inches to the barrel and then toss it into the Mississippi River.

Everyone has an opinion or two. I'd dump the scope: to me it doesn't fit. Also, some grips from California. Maybe find a display box for it. I also would stop shooting it. One day I would figure how to further enhance it with maybe gold on the two rings on the cylinder, the small area under the front sight, and something small in the rear for balance.

As a buddy of mine says: "People buy things and then treat them as if they own them".....

My opinion only - taking a pre-lock PC revolver and doing that to it is a great way to reduce it's value by a significant amount.

Shrug....

My wife wants to paint her 24 year old Trans Am as they do the pearl look to white, but in black. I said something about the value, and she wants to enjoy it....her way.

Rarely do I put up a negative opinion on a posted picture when asked how it looks, because I don’t think it’s productive for me to bag on something that the owner likes. However, here, it was stated immediately that it wasn’t his gun and he wanted opinions.

I think it’s completely hideous. I was a little surprised that the majority opinion is that also.

I will say that when it comes to engraved handguns, I think any amount of embellishment and engraving is almost always awful looking. That is likely a minority opinion, I think most find it beautiful.

I think some engraving and scroll work looks tasteful on some shotguns, maybe a few rifles. On handguns, I find it unattractive.

I think my brain sees two totally different things — mixed together that shouldn’t be mixed together.

At the same time, I believe that the artist has skills and a vision that command absolute respect and awe. (I just wish he’d carve it somewhere else! ;))

With all respect, WAY overdone. There's no disputing tastes and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I, as a child, had a Hubley cap pistol that was engraved like that.

Not very well done, let's just lets put some everywhere!
The problem is it looks amateurish in execution?
