Brand new gun bought today curious about the scratches on the frame everything seems to function correctly I don’t notice rubbing
Yeah, it's just cosmetic, but it's brand new! The way I see it, you don't pay full price for a damaged item. The should replace it or give you a discount, if you're okay with it.

Well, that's what they do when new. Not a problem, it will grow. Enjoy it, not going to a museum is it?
Youre correct I just haven’t shot it or used it I don’t know why they’re there. I don’t want it to get worse or be some kind of safety issue.

NOT trying to be offensive. Truely that's not my intent.
"Tabletop" review videos have turned us into a bunch of nitpickers. Just like Go-Fund-Me has turned us into a nation for beggars. The blade on my $20 pocketknife isn't centered and it's not the latest greatest X super steel. The screws on my gun are not timed.

Just shoot the damn thing already :)

Lack of polish in an area that is mostly hidden. It was OK with their quality control.
I just didn’t know if the cylinder was causing it. I don’t care that the scratch is there in gonna ad more I was more worried about a function error with the gun

Oh I’m gonna shoot it a bunch just ordered some vz boot grips for it I was just worried there was a function issue with the cylinder going in and out.

Okay I'll quit screwing around. I've been shooting revolvers longer than I care to admit or remember. S&W, Colt. Ruger, Dan Wesson, the old Rossi, H&R and I don't know all what. The only revolvers that I can recall that didn't have those marks are single action. Metal rubbing on metal leaves a mark, wearing off the finish and especially steel v aluminum. BWY if you find boot grips lacking or just not quit "it", give pachmayr compac grips a try. A bit bigger but I find them no harder to conceal. I'm betting given the chance you fall in love with the J frame.
Okay, maybe not quite done screwing around, should have bought the 638. Humpbacks are just way cooler. ;) :)

If I am to buy a new gun at a retail brick and mortar, I insist I examine the one for sale, not a display example. I don't care how inconvenient it is for a minimum wage clerk to bring one out and unpack; Or I will end up with the one which passes my inspection.

What do you think is rubbing? None of my aluminum-framed revolvers have those marks, and one has been used in competition with reloads on the clock.

Thank for your input I love the size of the boot I just wanna give it a little more flavor with the grey vz grip. Thanks for your help

They are NOT from the cylinder. If they were you could easily see the cylinder rubbing on the frame.

But, use you head a bit. IF the cylinder was dragging on the frame enough to make those marks, the cylinder would also have very similar drag marks. Its from the original machining.
I figured as much but wasn’t sure so I asked. Regardless I’m gonna shoot a ton and carry it daily. I had one in the past that didn’t have that so was just curious.
